I stopped showing up at the office.
The design competition was coming up fast, and I needed to pour all my energy into it. Madeline had practically pushed me out the door, insisting I work from home where I could focus completely on my sketches. With the company running like clockwork, I could afford to disappear for a while.
I owed Madeline big time for this. Once things settled down, I'd definitely need to restructure our equity deal—she deserved a much bigger slice of the pie.
