Morris's POV
My blood turned to ice as Toby's words hit the air.
I locked my stare on him, letting him read the threat written all over my face—one wrong move and he'd regret it.
The tension between us was electric, a deadly standoff that made the destroyed artifact look like child's play.
Ana seemed stunned by Toby's sudden jab—the comment was clearly meant to provoke.
Anyone with eyes could see he was targeting me directly.
I felt Ana's fingers tighten around mine as she turned toward Toby. "He had an emergency to handle, but he cleared it with me before stepping out."
She lifted her phone slightly, evidence ready. "Look, that's not what we should be focusing on. The real issue is this damaged piece."
She smoothly redirected everyone's attention back to what actually mattered.
I finally broke my death stare and moved closer to Ana, creating a wall between her and Toby—making damn sure he knew she was off-limits.
