Ana's POV
I really pitied my naive past self for falling for that trick, shaking my head at how gullible I'd been.
I actually went to the hospital to get my nose checked back then. How clueless could I have been?
Morris laughed. "Honestly, you should know me better than anyone."
He gestured toward my wrist.
I stopped to think. Sure, I'd been cranky lately from watching my diet, but my situation was different.
After my surgery, the doctors just told me to eat lighter foods, and I knew a little spice never really bothered me.
But Morris's case was completely different. The medication he'd been on back then came with strict rules about avoiding spicy food—it would actually mess with how effective the medicine was.
"I understand, but I don't have to like it," I said, leaning back in my chair and grabbing my phone, completely ignoring him.
