Ana's POV
Ridley looked utterly crushed, tears gathering in his eyes but refusing to fall.
I pressed my lips together, staying silent.
He didn't bother waiting for my response. Ridley stepped closer, his voice raw. "Back in Veridia, when I told you to play the Welch Group's princess, you knew it was all bullshit. You knew everything."
"You had your next guy picked out before we even divorced, didn't you? Morris's your safety net, right?"
Each word Ridley threw at me dripped with pain, but every syllable cut deep.
His assumption didn't shock me one bit.
Honestly, I'd only missed seeing Ridley's true colors because I'd been such a fool.
When the Watson family threw me out, I'd wandered around like a ghost, holding onto Ridley like he was my anchor. But he was never really my savior—I'd been kidding myself the whole time. He'd just given me a temporary place to crash while his heart was always somewhere else.
