If the judges issued a public statement, it would expose her bribery scandal for everyone to witness.
The online backlash would be brutal. Once word got out, her accolades would appear tainted, and the entire industry would brand her a fraud.
There'd be no recovery from such devastation.
"Morris, please... you can't go through with this—it'll ruin everything I've worked for!" Isobel pleaded, panic evident in her shaking voice.
Terror consumed Isobel as her words came out fractured and desperate.
When Yolanda caught Isobel's desperate appeal, doubt crept into her mind.
She turned toward me. "I understand Isobel crossed a line, but must we resort to such extreme measures? Perhaps we could find an alternative solution?"
While Yolanda wouldn't shield Isobel from consequences, she couldn't stomach completely annihilating her future either.
Hearing Yolanda's intervention, a spark of pure loathing flashed across Isobel's features.
