Synopsis
This is a story for that one reader—the one who knows what it feels like to start from nothing, to dream quietly, and to rise anyway. This is my first novel, so expect rough edges.

Chapter 1 - Prologue

A skinny-looking, purple-haired kid with pale skin and callused hands was leaning by the tree just across a run-down shack that looked like it might cave in at any second. He rested there, munching on some apples. On this particular day, Aspen decided to take a break.

Working every day was such a pain in the ass.

Enjoying the fresh air as the birds chirped, Aspen brought the apple bite into his mouth and ate with a content smile.

"What a wonderful day!"

He looked up at the sky, then back at his home that always dragged him back to reality.

What a poor soul I am, Aspen sighed inwardly.

Living on the outskirts of the village with a run-down shack really said everything about Aspen's financial conditions.

"Alright, let's get back to work," he mumbled, standing up and dusting his dirty pants.

He picked up a bucket, filled it with water, and started carrying it to the village.

Aspen was an orphan. He didn't have a house or a family. Sometimes it felt like this life was a sentence—a punishment meant to cleanse his soul of his sins from past lives.

Just as he came near the village, noises could be heard. Cries and sobbing.

Bandits? Aspen froze, a cold sweat trickling down his spine, his eyes widening in panic.

"Drop the old farts! We only need tough ones. Anyone that tries shit—kill 'em!" a bandit barked.

'Shit shit shit' Aspen slowly stepped back, trying to melt into the tree as quietly as possible.

Crack.

Aspen's blood went cold.

'OH FUCK ME IN THE ASS'

"Where ya going, boy'?" a voice behind him said.

Before he could turn, something slammed into the back of his head. The world tilted, and Aspen fell.

Everything went blank.
