Athena POV
You stabbed the gamma to death?" Naomi pointed a finger at me and the basket I was holding fell to the ground spilling the contents on the floor of the pack house.
" What are you talking about? I don't understand" I asked .
"Oh don't play innocent you wolf less bitch. You killed her admit it"
Admit to what? Something I know nothing about"I inquired
"Yeah right, you are so good at playing dumb. I applaud your acting skills Athena."a smile curved on her lips.
Tears filled my eyes, I bit my lips to hold back the pain. "I am still hurt Naomi. The gamma Jules was my best friend. She was the one who brought me out of darkness and treasured me like her own family.
She was the only one that gave a damn about me in this Godforsaken pack. And you accuse me...of killing her?" I ran a hand through my hair, an exasperated breath leaving my mouth as I stared at Naomi who gave me a mocking look.
"Do you hate me so much that you accuse me of such a heinous crime?"
Naomi was about to speak when footsteps were heard. My wolf tensed at the smell of the pheromones.
We turned and bowed as the beta of the pack approached us.
"What's going on here?"
I gulped as I straightened. "I-"
"Athena killed the gamma."
"Naomi!" I called out her name.
The beta frowned, taking aback, "I don't understand. What sort of rumor is that?"
"It's not a rumor Beta Marcus, I am very sure that Athena killed Gamma Jules."
" What! "he exclaimed, narrowing his eyebrows to look at me.
His eyes darkened as he gripped my chin, the heat radiating all over me.
" Let me go " I coughed, choking on air in my lungs.
I was becoming breathless struggling to get his hands off my neck.
When it looked like I would die,he released me from his firm hold, dropping me to the floor leaving me gasping for air.
" Why did you kill Gamma Jules?" he threw the question directly at me.
Murmurs echoed from the pack members who had gathered in the pack house.
" What a wild child" terrified gasps rippled among the crowd .
"I didn't kill her " my hand kept shaking as the accusation rang like a morning bell with my arms trembling.
Tears trickled from my face hitting the floor with soft thuds like water droplets while I kept looking at the entire pack members who had hurdled over in fright.
I was treated as an omega in the pack because I had no wolf to show off even as the daughter of the Alpha.
Naomi was the perfect daughter and she had always been favoured by everyone since birth but I was treated as an outcast.
"You are just a worthless person only deserving to be a slave" she added her words sinking deep into my flesh.
" No I didn't know how this happened but I have no involvement in her death" I stutter in fear.
"Believe me, I don't know anything about her death. I don't know what this is about but I didn't kill the gamma." I screamed at the top of my voice as tears flowed out of my eyes.
"Stop with the denial already!You were the last person seen with her, your dagger was found in her quarters which you used in stabbing her "Naomi growled. Her voice struck me hard on the spot .
" Dagger? How?"My jaw tightened, unable to believe my own sister would accuse me of something disdainful.
Naomi reached out for her pocket pulling out a golden dagger with its edges coated with blood stains.
" This is the dagger you used in orchestrating the murder which utterly belongs to you" she gritted her teeth .
" No this can't be! There must be a mix-up somewhere someone is trying to frame me, "I cried out, my voice cracking pleading my innocence before the pack members but they didn't believe me.
" Why would you be so heartless to kill the gamma" Naomi barked her tone was lethal poison whichsent chills down my spine.
"The evidence is clear, yet you are telling a blatant lie," she shouted.
" The dagger had your fingerprints on it which matches the accuracy of the murder of the gamma," she barked .
"That can't be!" I cried out.
" Why did you have to kill the gamma " the beta threw the question at me.
"I didn't kill her. I have no idea about her death." I swore before them, but they didn't believe me.
His eyes were filled with tears as he just lost his beloved daughter.
" She was my precious daughter, everything I ever wanted. If she had done something wrong you would have come to tell me about it not involving yourself in something that automatically led to her untimely death" A tinge of regret swept across his face.
A cold silence swept in the room.
"You are despicable as you went far to murdering the most precious warrior in our pack," he snapped at me, mourning the death of the gamma .
"I don't have a hand in gamma's death," I cried out, but they chose to ignore me.
"If you weren't the one then who did it?"
His tone fell flat as his voice echoed throughout the room.
" When I got to her room, she was already lying in her pool of blood," I replied, my voice barely audible.
"Can you even hear yourself out?"
He fumed, embittered with rage as he looked at me with disdain
"This is all a setup!" I cried buthe chose not to believe me.
The pack members looked at me with hatred, their icy stares piercing like daggers wanting to squeeze the tiny life left in me.
A deep silence washed over the room with the anger which riled Beta's face.
"Lies ? Who would go far to frame a lowly peasant like you? Naomi asked .
"You are just an omega who would do anything" she stepped forward grabbing my hair.
Her eyes were fiery as she stumped her foot hard against my palm.
"Don't do this " I cried out in pain, my voice cracking her sharp nails piercing through my flesh seeping with blood .
I whimpered in pain, crawling with my tattered clothes as I spilled out blood, each thud burning through my fragile skin, begging for mercy.
" But you can't do this, I am the alpha's daughter, his blood runs in my veins " my lips were stained with something metallic my blood their eyes popped out of their sockets .
" A lowlife calls herself the Alpha daughter " Naomi paced back and forth in the room.
" Well let's see if you can still maintain your status like that " a smile crept on her lips with satisfaction glinting through her eyes.
" What are you trying to do? " I asked with a shaky breath.
" Nothing " she replied but I knew Naomi wouldn't let me off easily.
" What is going on here" a voice came from the farthest corner of the room.
Everyone turned to see who it was.
It was my father, Alpha Damian.
" Well Athena killed the gamma so we are trying to ensure justice" Naomi blurted out.
" What !" my father exclaimed.
My father stepped closer, his eyes emitted a dark aura as he crouched to my level.
" Who sent you to kill the gamma " my father raised his hand hitting my face.
My cheeks stung in pain .
"Father you need to believe me I didn't do this" I held my cheeks which were swollen.
" Are you trying to question your Alpha judgement?" he smirked.
" You are just a pathetic human going far to kill my beloved gamma ? My father sprang out.
Such heartless words.
" Dad …." I was met with his hateful aura coming from him .
" One more word from you and I wouldn't mind killing you right here now" he roared.
"What does the law of our pack state in a murder case? Alpha Damian asked in a commanding tone.
"The law states that she should be executed with her head displayed in the market square for all to see but since she is an omega let her be exiled left to wither in the forest, "The Beta spoke, and everyone sighed deeply.
My chest tightened upon hearing the citations from the
beta.
" A filthy person like you is unfit to be in our pack; she should be banished atoning for her sins in the forest "Naomi chimed in, gaining everyone's approval.
"I assume all you heard the punishment correctly "my father grunted.
They all nodded in affirmation .
" Wither in the forest ?" My heart raced with brutality lurking in his eyes .
"No please!" I begged clutching on to his robe.but my pleas fell on deaf ears.
"You committed a grave offense in the pack. It's only right if you face the Wrath of the law," Alpha Damien stated as he remained unmoved by my incessant cries.
As I watched the faces staring at me in shock , I felt a pang of pain shoot shoot through my damaged heart ripping it into pieces.
" Take her away," he ordered.
I was left in the dark forest in tattered clothes utterly alone with nobody to help.
Suddenly, I heard some eerie noises with footsteps approaching my heart brimming with fear as the figure got closer.
He sniffed around the bushes like he was searching for something.
" There you are, " he laughed, emerging out of the shadows.
" Someone help me" I shouted but there was no answer.
My mind kicked instantly. I triedto run but my body was wounded and weak.
" Get away from me " I shouted.
" You are mine nobody else " his fingers elongated sweeping his gaze all over my body.
Panic surged through me my chest rising and falling with rapid breaths.
I tried to hit him but my hands were numb and too weak because I was exhausted.
" Take it easy darling " the voice was mocking but my eyes were blazing with anger.
I closed my eyes tightly waiting for the unexpected to happen but I heard gunshots flying in the air which pierced him in his chest .
Blood dropped like a crimson pool gushing out non stop dripping on the leaves.
" You are safe now" he stroked my hair reassuring me trying to stabilize my breath.
" Thank you " I replied and soonenough, my eyes began to close, landing straight into his arms with all consciousness lost.
