Rukia is a good person. She is cheerful, intelligent, hardworking, and serious. She approaches her studies with enthusiasm and diligence. She has good control over her reiryoku, though she doesn't have much of it—only slightly above average. But the girl tries to show everyone that this doesn't bother her at all.
But I got a bit carried away with the description.
"Who?" I asked.
"That snake! Where did she go?!" Rukia growled. Only now did I notice that her uniform was worn carelessly, which was unusual for her. Her hair was wet, and she was flushed, trying to catch her breath. Although the girl is in good physical shape, she still had a lot of work to do.
"Hebiko? I haven't seen her."
My second strange friend is Kotoe—or more precisely, Hebiko. She's a very cheerful girl, but her humor is a little dark. She loves to make fun of others and put them in the most bizarre situations.
Last time, she pushed Rukia right into me while we were walking down the stairs. I caught her, even though I fell myself. But at that moment we looked like a couple who had fallen down to kiss. Rukia and I aren't related, but not everyone knows that, and it looked funny anyway. The teacher scolded us, giving a long lecture on morality and the negative connotations of incest. Renji was boiling with rage, while Hebiko laughed at our expense. And then she reminded us of it for a long time afterward.
There's nothing between Rukia and me. I feel nothing more than warm familial affection toward her. So when we fell, we didn't even blush. What's the big deal? We have a normal friendly relationship and we are not striving for something unknown. And, you have to admit, it's pretty strange to fall in love with a girl who has the same face as you. Not a big deal—but unusual, nonetheless.
And Hebiko didn't stop there. She repeated the same trick, but this time with Renji and Kira. Their faces were priceless when they realized what situation they were in. Hinamori Momo, passing by at the moment, nearly fainted at the sight. She stayed as red as a tomato for a long time—and still blushes at the mere sight of those two.
The snake gets on everyone's nerves. The entire Academy, from commoners to aristocrats, is already howling about her.
But the most unpleasant thing about her is a kind of innate ability to detect danger. As soon as she makes a joke, she laughs nastily and runs away. Then you have to search for her all over the Academy.
"What did she do this time?" I asked wearily.
"There was a lot of steam in the communal shower," Rukia growled, adjusting her clothes. "And then she screams, 'Karasumaru snuck in here!!!' They didn't recognize me and almost beat me up there. Now the whole women's dorm is looking for that viper!"
"Hmm, Rukia," I scratched my chin. "Snake got away. I didn't see her—I was sleeping here."
"Damn!" she snorted. "I'm going to look for her. There's already a reward for her head if you bring her to the dorm manager"
"Why?"
"Because she was in the shower too. So she wants to kill her as well. Okay, I'm off. Don't sleep here, Karas, you'll catch a cold!" And with that, she ran off.
Yeah. She's in trouble now.
"Did you hear that, Hebiko?" I asked.
"Yeah," I heard from above.
Strange tendency. If she's hiding, she's always somewhere nearby. Well, yeah, that time when she set up that senior, he really wanted to beat her up. I intervened. Since then, she's been hiding somewhere close. And considering that half the Academy wants to kill her this month, she hides like a master ninja. Maybe she should join the 2nd Division?
"Heh-he-he," she climbed down and sat next to me. "Accomplice."
"Why would that be?"
"You don't give me away."
"I just know you're nearby, but I have no idea where," I sighed. "You'd better stop this. Otherwise, even I might not be able to intervene in time."
"Heh-he-he," she laughed. "I'm just bored. The lessons are too boring. My teachers taught me the basics a long time ago, but I'm not allowed to take the main Kido lessons."
"Do you want to study Kido?" I asked.
"I want to be a medic."
"You want to save other people's lives?" I was surprised.
"Yeah, right!" she snorted. "It's easier to find a husband that way. Imagine," she said dreamily, closing her eyes. "He wakes up after a difficult battle and sees me. Our eyes meet…"
"And he'll have gray hair and heart problems for the rest of his life, heh," I laughed.
"Pff," she snorted. "You don't understand anything about romance."
"Neither do you," I got up and dusted myself off. "I'm going to go. Don't stay out too late."
"If anything, I'll come sleep at your place," she smiled.
"Yes, please," I waved my hand. Oh! She blushed and stared at me in surprise. She looks cute. "I won't be there tonight anyway."
"Where are you going?"
"On business. Take care. Good luck."
With that, I went to the dormitory. Tomorrow is my day off, so tonight I'm going to help out in poor neighborhoods. And since it's a long way even with the shunpo, I need to leave early. And it's not a good idea to be out in broad daylight. And I've already got everything I need, so there won't be any problems.
It would be nice to find some help, but that can wait. I've only been here a month, so there's still time.
Okay. I'm going to get some more sleep…
