Chapter 48 - Cat cuddles

Sanemi's face lit up at the suggestion, already heading toward the treats display.

"Now you're speaking my language! I'll buy all the treats if it means more cats coming to me."

He examined the different treats, looking particularly excited about the catnip mice.

"Look at these! They're tiny little toys. Perfect for tiny little cat paws." Giyuu watched as Sanemi practically bounced with excitement over the catnip mice.

"You know, you're like a giant cat yourself when you get excited about these things."

He picked up a feather toy, waving it teasingly.

"But you'd love to chase this around too." Sanemi immediately lunged for the feather toy, swiping at it playfully.

"Hey! Give that here! I'm not just any cat - I'm a very dignified one." He tried to maintain his serious expression but failed as he kept batting at the feather. "And for your information, I would definitely win any feather toy chase." Giyuu held the feather just out of Sanemi's reach, enjoying the playful chase.

"Oh really? Because from where I'm standing, you look pretty desperate right now."

He dangled the feather just above Sanemi's head, watching him stretch up. "I bet even the cats would laugh at your attempts." Sanemi made a few more futile attempts to grab the feather before giving up with an exaggerated sigh. "Fine, keep your feather. I was just testing your reflexes anyway." He straightened up, trying to look dignified despite his failed attempts.

"But I'm still buying the catnip mice. And you can't stop me!" Giyuu chuckled and handed over the feather toy, watching Sanemi's triumphant expression.

"You know what? Go ahead. Buy all the catnip you want. Maybe it'll make you mellow enough to share your side of the bed tonight." He picked up a few other treats, including some soft cat beds.

"And while you're at it, I'll get some stuff for our future cats." Sanemi's eyes widened at Giyuu's comment about future cats, and he suddenly looked more excited than ever. "Future cats? You mean... you're thinking about getting one with me?" He quickly added several cat beds to their shopping basket, along with a tiny cat sweater. "I'm definitely getting mellow then! We need the perfect setup for our furry family." Giyuu smiled warmly at Sanemi's enthusiasm, enjoying seeing him so genuinely happy.

"Well, we've already got the cat mugs and treats. We might as well plan ahead." He leaned closer, lowering his voice playfully.

"Though I have to warn you - I want at least three cats. You better be ready for that level of chaos." Sanemi gasped dramatically, clutching his chest as if wounded. "Three cats? You're trying to kill me! But... I'll take that challenge." He started counting on his fingers, already imagining their future furry family. "I'll need to get a bigger cat tree. And maybe one of those automatic feeders. And more toys!" Giyuu watched as Sanemi started making a mental list, his eyes sparkling with excitement.

"Look at you, already in planning mode. Who knew you'd be such a responsible cat dad?" He reached for Sanemi's hand, squeezing it affectionately.

"We should probably start with one first though. Get used to sharing our space with something that might actually scratch the furniture." Sanemi intertwined his fingers with Giyuu's, giving him a mock-serious look. "Fine, one cat first. But it has to be the most spoiled cat ever. And it's going to love me more than you." He pulled Giyuu closer, whispering conspiratorially.

"I'll train it to be my little guard cat. You'll see." Giyuu raised an eyebrow skeptically, but couldn't hide his amusement.

"Oh really? And how exactly do you plan to train a cat? By yelling at it until it listens?"

He booped Sanemi's nose playfully. "You'll probably end up with a cat that hisses at you every time you try to pet it." Sanemi gasped again, this time in mock offense. "My cats would never hiss at me! They'll be trained in the art of cat ninja warfare." He made exaggerated karate chop motions in the air. "And I'll teach them how to steal your socks when you least expect it." Giyuu laughed, shaking his head at Sanemi's antics.

"Well, if they can manage to steal my socks, I'll be impressed. But remember - cats are their own bosses." He leaned in closer, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "And if they start sleeping on your side of the bed instead of mine, don't blame me." Sanemi's stomach growled loudly at the mention of food, making him blush slightly.

"Speaking of food... I'm suddenly starving. The cafe has great sandwiches - let's get lunch before we head home." He glanced at the menu board, eyeing the chicken club sandwich with obvious interest.

"My treat, since I'm the one who dragged you here in the first place." Giyuu nodded enthusiastically, his own stomach starting to rumble.

"Perfect timing. I could eat a whole cat tree right now." He looked around for an empty table. "And maybe we can share some of those delicious looking pastries too. I've been eyeing those lemon bars since we walked in." Sanemi grabbed Giyuu's hand again, leading him toward the food counter.

"Lemon bars it is! And I'm getting that sandwich. Oh, and those little quiches look good too." He practically bounced with excitement, already imagining the feast. "We'll need a whole table to ourselves with all this food. Maybe we should grab one of those cozy booths in the corner." Sanemi didn't notice the homophobic comment as he was too focused on the food menu. "I think that booth over there is perfect. It's got those cute little cushions." He tugged Giyuu toward the booth, already pulling out his wallet.
