Chapter 50 - Cat cuddles

"Come on, let's get our food and cuddle up. I'm in serious sandwich mood." Giyuu slid into the booth, deliberately sitting close to Sanemi but maintaining a casual demeanor.

"You're really excited about sandwiches today, aren't you? Should I be jealous of your new sandwich lover?" He teased, watching as Sanemi eagerly studied the menu. "But I must admit, that chicken club does look amazing." The older woman approached their table with a disapproving frown. "Excuse me, young men. This is a family establishment. Please keep your... displays to a minimum." Sanemi looked confused, glancing between Giyuu and the woman.

"What displays? We're just sitting here." The woman's frown deepened as she gestured vaguely at their close proximity.

"I mean your... lifestyle choices. Some of us don't want to see that kind of behavior in public." Giyuu tensed slightly but maintained his composure, placing a hand on Sanemi's arm. "Ma'am, we're just having lunch. Is there something specific that bothers you about us sitting together?" The woman's face reddened with anger at Giyuu's direct question. "Don't play dumb with me! You know exactly what I mean. Two men shouldn't be so... intimate in public. It's unnatural and disrespectful."

Sanemi's grip on the menu tightened, but Giyuu squeezed his arm reassuringly.

"Unnatural? I think you're the one who's out of line here. This is discrimination." The woman scoffed loudly, drawing attention from nearby tables. "Discrimination? It's called common decency. I won't have you corrupting young minds with your... lifestyle choices." Sanemi started to stand up, his temper flaring, but Giyuu held him back firmly. "We're not going anywhere. This is a public place and we have every right to be here." The woman's face twisted with disgust as she looked at Sanemi's defensive posture.

"You're just proving my point! Look at how aggressive he is. No wonder you're... whatever you are." Sanemi's face flushed with anger, but Giyuu quickly stood up, positioning himself between Sanemi and the woman.

"That's enough. We're leaving. But let me tell you something - your narrow-mindedness is exactly why places like this need more 'corruption.'" The woman sputtered indignantly as Giyuu grabbed their shopping bags and Sanemi's hand. "Come on, Sanemi. We don't need to waste our time here. And ma'am, maybe you should focus on your own life instead of judging others."

Sanemi followed Giyuu, his shoulders tense but his expression showing gratitude for Giyuu's support. "Yeah, let's go. Some people just can't handle happiness that's different from theirs." As they walked out, Sanemi's anger slowly transformed into frustration. "I can't believe she just... ugh! What's wrong with people?" He kicked a small rock on the sidewalk, his hand still tightly holding Giyuu's.

"That sandwich suddenly doesn't taste as good anymore." Giyuu stopped walking and pulled Sanemi into a gentle hug, ignoring the few curious stares from passersby.

"Hey, don't let her ruin our day. We'll find somewhere better to eat. And you know what? That sandwich will taste amazing once we're away from all this negativity." He pressed a quick kiss to Sanemi's temple.

"Besides, we still have shopping to do for our future cat." Sanemi melted into the hug, his anger dissipating as he buried his face in Giyuu's shoulder. "You're right. She's not worth it. And yeah... I really want to buy those catnip toys now." He pulled back slightly, managing a small smile. "Let's go to that new café on Main Street. I heard they have killer milkshakes." Giyuu smiled warmly, linking his arm with Sanemi's as they walked.

"Milkshakes it is. And maybe we can stop by that pet store we passed earlier. They had those super soft cat beds." He leaned his head against Sanemi's shoulder, keeping his voice light and cheerful. "Our cat is going to have the best home ever, even if some people don't understand." Sanemi's mood lifted visibly as they walked down the street, his eyes lighting up at the thought of their future cat. "Yeah! We'll give it the best life. And if anyone else tries to ruin our day, I'll just talk about catnip until they run away." He grinned mischievously, pulling Giyuu closer.

"Thanks for being here with me, Giyuu. You always know how to make things better."

Giyuu squeezed Sanemi's hand affectionately, his eyes sparkling with love.

"Always. That's what partners are for, right? Besides, I'm the one who gets to see your adorable cat planning face." He chuckled softly, watching Sanemi's enthusiasm return. "Now, let's go get those milkshakes before they're all gone. I bet you'll be plotting the perfect cat tree design over yours." Sanemi's eyes widened with excitement as they approached the café.

"A cat tree design? You know me too well! I was already thinking about building one from scratch."

He practically bounced with energy, pointing at the café's colorful sign. "Look at that! They even have a special cat menu. Our cat will be so spoiled!" Giyuu couldn't help but laugh at Sanemi's enthusiasm, his heart warming at the sight. "Of course they do. And knowing you, you'll probably design a whole obstacle course for our cat to play in." He opened the café door, gesturing for Sanemi to enter first. "After you, my architectural genius." Sanemi paused in the doorway, his expression shifting to a mixture of surprise and slight annoyance when he saw Mitsuri and Obanai.

"Oh great, the lovebirds are here too. This day just keeps getting better." He rolled his eyes but couldn't hide his small smile as he spotted their friends. "Hey, look who it is! The most disgustingly sweet couple in town." Mitsuri waved enthusiastically from their table, while Obanai gave a small nod of acknowledgment.

"Sanemi! Giyuu! Come sit with us!" Mitsuri called out, her voice bright and cheerful. She was wearing a pink sundress and matching ribbon in her hair.

"We saved you seats!" Obanai looked slightly uncomfortable with Mitsuri's loud greeting, but his eyes softened when he saw them.
