Evelin's POV
Grace's expression turned to stone, her jaw clenched tight. I could see her struggling to come up with some lame excuse, but nothing came.
Grey's face burned red as he whipped around to face me. "Are you kidding me, Evelin? You coached your friend to make me look like a complete ass?"
Selina didn't back down for a second. "I'm going after you because I feel like it, not because Evelin asked me to!"
Grey wasn't buying it. He was dead certain I was trying to embarrass him on purpose. "What's it going to take to get your friend to back off? You want some kind of payback? Fine, just name it!"
I stared at the furious man in front of me, feeling the sharp bite of how little he cared—and how much he obviously worried about Grace.
God, I was such an idiot back then, thinking I could actually make this man love me.
"I don't want anything from you," I said, keeping my voice level. "I just want out."
"Out?" Grey blinked, completely thrown. Even Tate looked up, surprised.
