Evelin's POV
When I stepped out of the bathroom after washing up, I found Jimmy sitting there with his head down, completely absorbed in thought as he stared blankly at the bracelet wrapped around his left wrist.
The same one I'd chosen so carefully for him.
A wave of tangled emotions crashed through me—feelings I couldn't even begin to name. Back then, I never would've guessed that the birthday present I gave him would turn into a goodbye gift.
He must have sensed me approaching because Jimmy slowly lifted his gaze to meet mine. "Ready for bed?"
"Yeah, let's sleep," I replied. "How should we handle this? Want to hold hands—would that help you get some rest?"
"Just holding hands sounds good," Jimmy said.
"Okay," I agreed, pulling the covers back and climbing into bed first.
Jimmy studied me with that intense look of his, then settled down beside me. His hand found mine, fingers intertwining gently.
This time, I didn't yank my hand away like I had before.
