Evelin's POV
I mindlessly pushed rice around my bowl, barely glancing at the vegetables beside it.
"Evelin, come on, don't just eat rice. Have some veggies too," Allen said, scooping some greens into my bowl.
I exhaled slowly. "I know, but I just can't seem to eat anything right now."
My thoughts were spinning in endless circles, questions and theories bouncing around until I thought my skull might crack open.
"Whether it's Rex or not, I'm staying right here with you until we track him down," Allen said, his voice steady and sure.
"But... what about your work?" I asked, hesitating.
"Eve, did you forget what I told you once? If you were ever in real danger, I'd walk through hell itself to protect you. So hunting for Rex? That's nothing," Allen said with complete sincerity.
If it came down to it, Allen would give his life for mine without a second thought.
