"The sedative's wearing thin. He'll come around any minute now," Allen warned me.

I gave a small nod. The DNA test was still pending, but my gut feeling grew stronger by the minute.

A regular person would've stayed under for hours with that dosage, yet Jaxson was already stirring after a short while.

His body obviously had built-up tolerance to the sedative—exactly like Rex would.

"Time to leave," I whispered, my fingers instinctively clutching the hair strand I'd collected.

Once I submitted this sample for DNA analysis, I'd finally have my answer about whether Jaxson was truly Rex.

Jaxson's consciousness returned gradually some time later, grogginess still fogging his thoughts.

He pushed himself upright and scanned the vacant room, looking for any trace of activity.

The space remained empty as before, though considerable time had elapsed.

'That long unconscious?' Jaxson questioned internally.

He massaged his temples, his expression growing dark.
