Jasmin's POV
"Heather... Heather..." I whispered through chattering teeth, my body shaking violently under the freezing shower spray. Every muscle screamed in agony as I fought against the fire racing through my veins. Only thirty minutes had passed since this nightmare began, but the heat consuming me grew stronger by the second.
Heather whined softly in my mind, her usual strength reduced to barely a whisper. We were both fighting the same losing battle against instincts that threatened to destroy everything we'd worked for.
My legs gave out completely.
I hit the cold tiles hard, gasping for air that felt like molten metal in my lungs. "Hold on," I breathed, though my voice cracked with exhaustion. "Almost over..."
The truth was I had no idea if this desperate plan would work. But giving up wasn't an option. Not when so much depended on keeping this secret.
