Chapter 17 - Chapter 18: How To Not Work As A Team!

How are we going to pass this without any risks? Mejni, who was still in shock, did not move. I looked down again from the edge, but it was pitch black. Ah, well, I got an idea. I backed away two steps and came up with a brilliant idea.

"Let's team up on this!" I said and kicked Mejni from the back on one of the stars as he slid... way too far and disappeared.

Shit, did I kick too hard? Well, nobody needs a pet here anyway.

I was going to jump on the star when Mejni rose from the other side. At least he wasn't in shock anymore, and his eyes were red.

"Ah, so that is the killer face of an Assassin?"

He slowly walked towards me, and his body was changing a little bit of colour, moving towards red. I need to calm him down so we do not fight on a freaking star.

"Hey! Buddy, friend. Take it easy now, I am just doing my duties as a normal human being. I knew the star wouldn't fall. It was a calculated approach of testing...ish!"

"Festing...yho khall that a FESTING?"

Damn, even with a translator earpiece, I wouldn't understand a shit what he was saying. Festing, maybe it's testing, I suppose. He jumped high up in the air and made a flykick with his tiny feet on my face, making it feel like I just received a bitch slap. How in the Hell can this mini thing be an Assassin? That was not a powerful kick.

"Hooman, bad feaple, much bad, tead!" He said and kept growling at me.

Well, I sacrificed the Cat. I need to take a guess and jump. The first star went straight; if we go right or left, we won't be moving forward anyway. We need to go forward. I took my stance, ran as fast as I could, and jumped straight over to the other side on the second star, making a super hero roll, and looked back at Mejni with a badass expression. That was a lucky guess. Mejni jumped over to the second star and climbed up on my shoulder, looking around. A star fell into the darkness, and a slightly bigger star came from above, replacing it...Big Kabab House, with a mid-aged dude with a thick mustache and hairy arms, wearing a T-shirt with several stains on it.

"KHABAB! KHABAB! COME AND BUY KHABAB!

"You have to be fucking joking with me! What is next, stars attacking us on this hard level already? Who sells kabab at a place that doesn't look safe?"

The stars started to rumble, and I saw, far away to the right, several stars moving up the sky, splitting into three parts. The same was happening on the left side, and they fell on the big stars and started to move in our direction. I retook a stance and jumped to the star on the right with Mejni following suit. Mejni pointed behind me, quickly gazed back as a star rolled towards me. I jumped up, making a split in the air, feeling like a ballet dancer as the star rolled past beneath, and another star came from the front, bouncing, and I quickly went down and lay straight on the star as it touched my blazer and my cheek before it fell into the darkness. Went up and tried to check both sides as two stars came at me simultaneously, and I quickly moved to the side as they passed by. A small freaking star flew right at my face with something looking like a spear, and I thought it was over when Mejni, in the last second, made a flykick to get it away. A ringbell echoed in the air, and a wooden log appeared in the air. I jumped onto it, and Mejni grabbed my leg and climbed onto my shoulders as I got up on the log.

"Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Let the rumble rise the bar!" The Box appeared in the air, floating as if it were bragging about how hard the level was.

That did not sound right at all. Is it The Box, A story about a Poet? I looked down where we came up from, and the medium stars had been replaced by small stars, now stacking up on each other to reach the log. I moved to the other side of the log with Mejni keeping watch behind me, shit, there are two stars to jump on.

Left or right star, we are in between. Damn it! Damn It! Damn It! Which one to choose? The Khabab place is to the upper right. Is it trying to tell us something?

Mejni pulled my blazer, and I looked back, noticing the small stars getting up on the log. I took two steps back and took a deep breath:

"Fuck this!" I leapt to the edge and jumped to the upper right star as Mejni fell from my shoulder on impact and slid away to the edge.

I am not letting this be the end of me. What will I tell the Angels in heaven who killed me? Getting killed by small yellow stars will make everyone laugh at me. The star fell from the log as they kept piling up on each other. Wait a minute! Nah, it can't be.

"YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING WITH ME, ARE THE STARS ALIVE AND THEY PILE UP TO JUMP TO OUR STAR!"

I kicked Mejni to the right on the other star as something that looked like a red bolt went through him, and his eyes lit up red. He is pissed now.

"EH...SORRY, CAT!"

He was breathing heavily, and I jumped on the star.

"ME...NUT CAT! MEERKAT!

He barged toward me, jumping, and I rolled to the right, seeing him flying past me with his tongue out, staring with disgust at me falling, fell on the other star as several bolts of red electricity came from nowhere like he was rallied up or something. Oh, wait! I am the one ralling him up. Okay, the Khabab store is on the star in the front; need to jump and grab the seats connected to the grill. I took two steps back, saw several stars gliding past me, and looked to the left, seeing Mejni go berserk on the poor stars as he stared at me. I started to run, but Mejni slid past me, interrupting the jump. I took two steps back quickly, then ran again, and in the exact moment of the jump, I felt something pull my blazer as I lost impact.

"AAAAAHHHHHHH!"

Am I dead? No, I am not... my right hand grabbed a steel pipe beneath the grill, connected to the chairs above. Why am I having a hard time breathing...What the fuck, I am choking, I grabbed with my other hand on the pipe and quickly got up on the chair with the damn Cat's tail around my neck. I managed to get it loose, and Mejni jumped on my head and climbed above. We looked at each other as the dude in the grill had a surprised expression, while the sound of stars behind me fell into oblivion.

"Yeah...Sorry about the disturbance."

"Khabab...Buy one, get one free!"

"Eh... No thanks!" I said and stood up on the chair while the Cat was already on the roof. I climbed up and looked at him as he had the open-mouth look again.

"What! Why do you open your mouth? Are you shocked to see me alive?" I asked him.

He pointed behind me, and I turned to check what the Hell he was so shocked over. A giant star was jumping between stars, making them fall into the darkness. It is a star crusher giant on steroids.

"I am not going to say anything!"

"RHUN!" Mejni screamed and jumped from the upper-left corner of the roof, disappearing from my view.

I got up on the roof, ran to the edge, and jumped to a star in the upper left, sliding a little bit as Mejni took two steps to the left, avoiding to help me, but I leaned my feet on the tip of the star to not fall. I looked back and saw Mejni smiling, and his red eyes were gone.

"STOP MAKING THE FAKE SMILE, YOU DAMN CAT!"

I looked back to see where the steroid star was, and it had moved a step to the left, so it only needed to do forward jumps. It was coming for us. We had two stars in front of us before we reached the field of grass. I looked left and right, fuck it, I will jump in front. I ran up to the edge and jumped to the star on the front, falling on my stomach as I felt Mejni landing on my back like I was some pillow stopping the impact. I lay still for a second and noticed it hadn't fallen. Shit, there is no chance in Hell three stars moving forward to the finish line won't fall. The one between us and the finish line will fall; otherwise, it will be too easy. I looked back, and Steroid star was only two stars away, and I focused on the impact it made and looked down at Mejni, telling him:

"Do you trust me, cat?"

He shook his head in denial.

"Nho!"

"Get up on my shoulder and hold tight to my blazer."

He climbed up, and Steroid came from the sky, falling on the star behind us as it split in half, and it flew up in the sky towards us. I moved to the edge on the other side and looked up as it slammed down on our star, splitting it in half. I managed to grab the edge on impact with my hands as it went up, then climbed it when it was high, then jumped as far as I could to the other star, hitting the edge with one foot. I fell onto the grass with half my body, as the star fell into the darkness, and I held on to the grass and would not let go, no matter what. I am not going to slide down into the darkness. I pulled myself forward until my whole body was on the ground, then turned onto my back while Mejni sat on my stomach, the bastard. The Box appeared in the air, and a trumpet sound echoed around us.

'Congratulations on passing Level One, sublevel one out of three.'

"Eh...WHAT?" I screamed out in the air as we were still on level one.
