I held her like that for a long, silent minute, letting the tremors in her body slowly fade as the shock drained from her mind, and only when her breathing finally steadied did I loosen my arms and pull back, forcing a calm smile even as my chest felt unbearably tight.
"Nothing is going to happen," I told her quietly, meeting her eyes. "We're going to be just fine."
Then my tone shifted, growing heavier, more resolute. "But we still need to be prepared, and for that… I'm going to need your help. There are too many things I don't fully understand yet—too many gaps in the truth—but I'm certain of one thing: the children who were taken away were special, just like us."
I clenched my fist, my voice firm. "So don't be afraid. If anything happens, I'll be right by your side, Oge. I'll protect our family—you, sister Ada, Mother, Father—everyone. I swear it upon my life."
