Chapter 2 - Ragna

A boy between the age of 17 to 18 years clad in a gold color like school uniform stood at the edge of a mountain cliff with a colorless look in his eyes.

There were tears in his eyes as he stared at the marooned colored sky.

"What is the point of being born as an awakener when I can not become stronger no matter how hard I train?"

He said with a crestfallen voice, as he chuckled in self ridicule.

"I sure awakened a shifty bloodline. I hope I get reborn with a better one, after I die…..

Ragna was born in an age where awakening a high class bloodline was everything and determined your fate in the society.

His parents were awakeners but had died in an unfortunate incident, however, he was lucky enough to be taken in by his maternal relatives who were also awakeners. However, their bloodline was a low-class one which solidified their status as average in society.

When Ragna was adopted by his maternal relations, they had hoped he would awaken a fairly high-class bloodline so he could change their status in the society, due to the fact that his parents had unique bloodlines when they were alive.

This was because unique bloodlines could always evolve into middle class or even higher class bloodline albeit chances were slim, nevertheless, there were cases of it happening in the past.

And since awakening a powerful bloodline determined your fate and status in society, they had hoped for a miracle to happen.

Unfortunately, Ragna could not awaken a high class or even a middle class bloodline, instead had awakened a low class bloodline that was said to be useless.

His bloodline after awakening had become dormant, although he could perform superhuman feats when placed against non awakeners, however, compared to awakeners who could run around the world in minutes or lift a nine story building with pure strength, Ragna's bloodline was nothing special when compared to it.

Ragna's uncle and aunt were extremely disappointed when they discovered his bloodline was not just a low class but it could not evolve, even worse it was dormant meaning no matter how much he trained in his entire lifetime it wouldn't become stronger.

Ragna, who was only seven at that time, soon realized the cruelty of the society and world he was born in, to top it all his relatives' attitude towards him changed. Although he was seen as a burden by them and they would sometimes vent their frustrations on him verbally before, but after his failed awakening the little love and care they showed seemed to have disappeared into thin air.

Taking a turn for the worse, as they would not only abuse him verbally venting their frustrations of him being a burden to them and awakening a low class bloodline, they would also do so physically, while at their good mood they would not remember to feed him throughout the day without being abused physically, and whenever he complained of hunger.

"PIECE OF TRASH! WHY DON'T YOU JUST DIE? IS ALL YOU'RE GOOD AT JUST WASTING AWAY EATING OUR HARDEARNED FOOD?"

His relatives would bark at him with anger and frustrations.

At that age it was hard for him to understand what he had done wrong and would always apologize and try to do even better at school just to please them, but he soon noticed that he was being treated same way at school after his classmates knew about his bloodline.

As he grew he became rather isolated because of it, and couldn't make friends in school and would always be bullied by his peers who had better bloodline.

While his teachers would ignore his complaints, his classmates would mock him for awakening a dormant bloodline. No one cared about him because his bloodline was low classed.

Ragna who had once dreamed of joining the special awakeners federation, and becoming one of the strongest awakeners in the world soon realized no matter how hard he trained his bloodline, he wouldn't be accepted because his bloodline was too low to pass the cut off mark.

At that time Ragna's nephew had just turned three years old, awakened a high class bloodline.

Ragna's relatives were so joyful that they would curse at his dead parent for giving birth to a wretched child like him, while totally ignoring him and giving all their love and attention to their child.

Although he never understood why they hated him so much, Ragna still did his best to love his younger nephew like his brother, not until the day he tried to defend his nephew from his school bullies and was mocked by him for having a low class bloodline in front of them.

"You're not my brother, my brother can never have such a useless bloodline! You're just a lich!"
