Cornelia's POV
A breathless sound escaped my lips before I could stop it, heat flooding my cheeks. His thigh pressed between mine, and without any barrier beneath my robe, I was completely exposed to him.
The warmth spread through me, slick and desperate, and the sensation of his soft cotton pants against my bare skin sent shivers down my spine.
"S-stop," I whispered, though my stubborn pride was the only thing forcing those words from my mouth when every nerve in my body screamed for more.
His low laugh rumbled against my ear, dark and intoxicating. Had I lost my mind completely? Was this some kind of hormonal madness?
"Say it like you mean it, sweetheart," he murmured, his tongue tracing a hot path along my throat, "and maybe I'll listen."
"Stop," I attempted again, but the word came out even weaker than before, more like a plea than a command. It was exactly the permission this mysterious man had been waiting for.
