The ceiling above me blurs as I stare into the darkness, trapped between the warm bodies of my mates. Collin and Atticus had done everything possible to keep my thoughts occupied earlier, their touch and whispered promises a temporary balm against the chaos in my mind. But now, with both of them lost in peaceful sleep, the storm returns with vengeance.
My mother is alive.
The words echo through my consciousness like a mantra I cannot escape. Nancy has retreated into the depths of my mind, unusually silent since we received this earth-shattering news. I can feel her there, sifting through memories and fragments of information that might hold the key to understanding everything we thought we knew.
A vision slams into me with such force that I bolt upright, my heart hammering against my ribs. Nancy's memory unfolds before me like a movie I never wanted to watch, and suddenly I'm moving, my feet hitting the cold floor as I rush toward the door.
