Just as Shinomiya Aoha was reborn and regained consciousness, White Zetsu, who had been secretly monitoring the entire base and every blade of grass nearby, emerged from the wall to report everything to Madara.

"Is that so? He's awake? Bring him to me."

After receiving his orders, White Zetsu immediately grinned and retreated back into the wall.

The aged figure sitting on the stone throne fell into contemplation because he had already conducted various examinations while the boy was unconscious, even extracting cells for research.

But strangely, no matter how he examined or researched, he couldn't discover the secret behind the other's 'resurrection from death.'

No matter how he looked, this was an ordinary person who couldn't be more ordinary. Forget about bloodline limits or special talents; there wasn't even a trace of chakra inside this body!

As for cellular mutation, that was even more ridiculous.

For Madara, who had personally transplanted Senju Hashirama's cells and used them to cultivate White Zetsu, the title of Uchiha scientist was inescapable. Perhaps he wasn't at the pinnacle, but he was confident he wouldn't make mistakes with such simple examinations and judgments.

So to be safe, he forcibly used the Sharingan's power to peek into part of the child's memories.

The answer was still two words: ordinary!

An ordinary village, ordinary parents who gave birth to an ordinary child.

His aptitude was also mediocre. Though not yet a ninja, judging from the examination results, he'd be an ordinary chunin at best in this lifetime. The possibility of advancing to jonin was slim.

In the past, Madara wouldn't even spare a glance at people without talent or potential. In his eyes, even numerous jonin were nothing more than slightly stronger ants. Only kage-level powerhouses could pique his interest slightly; of course, this referred to his prime.

And the only one he truly regarded as his lifelong rival was that person.

So where exactly was the problem?

Did White Zetsu deceive him?

Absolutely impossible!

A miracle?

That seemed too absurd.

Then only two possibilities remained. First, aside from White Zetsu, there should have been another expert skilled in concealment and medical ninjutsu who secretly interfered.

If so, he'd need to be on guard.

But was it possible?

White Zetsu's clones were spread throughout the underground around the entire base. Any disturbance couldn't escape White Zetsu's detection.

Fine, even if someone possessed such an ability to conceal themselves from detection, to possess exceptional medical abilities simultaneously, that probability wasn't much higher than Hashirama resurrecting right before his eyes.

The second possibility was that this brat truly possessed some power, some power even he couldn't see or touch.

If so, perhaps this could add another layer of insurance to his future plans.

Resurrection...

A gleam immediately flashed in Madara's eyes. This might be yet another power that broke the taboo between life and death, aside from Edo Tensei, Rinne Tensei, and Izanagi.

But he hadn't discovered it at the time, or perhaps it had completely dissipated after reviving the child. After all, the more you want to gain, the more you must pay. Resurrection without cost was obviously impossible. So that 'already completely dissipated energy' not being discovered by him seemed somewhat reasonable.

Thus, Madara, who had originally planned to kill and dissect the child, suddenly changed his mind. Perhaps this casual chess piece could bring him some surprise.

While contemplating, White Zetsu walked in with a small child behind him.

The child's clothes were torn and stained with blood, his small face dirty enough to obscure his features, but the light contained in those eyes seemed somewhat interesting.

The instant he truly saw the living 'Old Madara,' Shinomiya Aoha inevitably widened his eyes.

He swore to the light; this was pure reflex!

If one day you could see a living 2D character appear before you, your subconscious reaction would definitely be the same!

Though he'd already speculated upon seeing White Zetsu, that 'distinctive' fellow, actually reaching this point still left him quite shocked.

'Old Madara' is still alive, so what year is it now?

This thought inevitably popped into Shinomiya Aoha's mind. But the very next moment, something even more shocking occurred.

[Ding! System activation mission triggered!]

[Mission Name: The Brat's Counterattack]

[Content Description: Pull out at least one tube from the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path plugged into Madara's back.]

(Look at this dying old geezer before you. Let's pull out his 'oxygen tube' and send him on his way, the brat's serious compassionate face~)

[Mission Reward: Officially activate the system, one mysterious Newbie Gift Pack!]

[Mission Failure: System immediately self-destructs on the spot (Don't ask; if you ask, it's lived long enough and wants to die!)]

After hearing the voice that suddenly rang in his mind, Shinomiya Aoha's eyeballs nearly popped out!

Though golden fingers were standard equipment for transmigrators, and he'd been looking forward to it.

But what the hell was this activation mission!

Hell difficulty right from the start, what kind of joke is this!

And 'The Brat's Counterattack,' pulling tubes from Madara's back.

Go to hell!

Pulling the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path tubes from Madara's back was practically demanding Madara's life!

Though the mission only required pulling out at least one, Shinomiya Aoha looked at his current small arms and legs. Even in the Naruto world, a 4-year-old child who hadn't received any training couldn't manage this, right?

Never mind that Madara was so old he was nearly dead, killing someone like him wouldn't even require lifting a finger. One glance would probably finish him off.

Even if Madara ignored him and allowed him to 'play around,' he didn't have the strength.

After all, the tubes extending from the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path couldn't possibly be fragile enough for an ordinary 4-year-old to snap by pulling, right?

This is hopeless, absolutely hopeless!

Shinomiya Aoha retracted his widened eyes and lowered his head to avoid Madara's probing gaze, while urgently inquiring in his mind: "System, system! This mission is completely impossible to complete!"

But this time, no voice answered him, as if everything earlier had been an illusion.

Damn it!

Shinomiya Aoha cursed internally, then carefully reviewed the mission failure penalty. The system self-destructs?

What was going on?

If the mission failed, only the system itself was punished? Could there be such a good thing? Was this system defective?!

Suddenly!

His expression froze because he suddenly realised this damn system had probably already fused with him. So if the system self-destructed, could he possibly be fine??

This was truly ruthless!

Mutual destruction at the slightest disagreement!?

The only good news was probably that this damn mission had no time limit, so take it one step at a time!

Shinomiya Aoha sighed internally, then heard a voice beside his ear.

"Brat, your name."

Shinomiya Aoha looked up to find that after sizing him up, Madara had spoken.

He currently lacked the courage to defy this world's big boss, so he replied with a somewhat trembling voice: "Shinomiya... Aoha."

Shinomiya?

After recalling and confirming there was no Shinomiya surname among the great clans throughout the ninja world, and he'd never heard of any formidable person surnamed Shinomiya, Madara shook his head with a bitter smile. Hadn't he already confirmed this? Why did he still harbour such wishful thinking?

Then his expression turned serious as he asked a question that made Shinomiya Aoha's scalp tingle.

"When you first saw me, I saw surprise in your eyes. You... know who I am?"

Upon hearing this, Shinomiya Aoha felt cold sweat ready to seep out. Damn, too careless!

If this aroused the other's suspicion and he forcibly examined his memories, discovering the secret of his transmigration, everything would be finished!

No!

Stay calm, I need to stay calm!
