Synopsis
Mirai Tsukuyomi is a first-year high school student who often finds himself lost in thought, staring at the moon and questioning the meaning of fate. In a world where people freely use the word “love” yet forget those they claim to care about, Mirai wonders whether our paths are chosen for us or created by our own decisions. Between school, friends, and fleeting encounters, he faces the ordinary struggles of teenage life — playful teasing from his classmates, the warmth and pressure of friendships, and moments of quiet reflection on what lies ahead. Mirai begins to see that a bright future, no matter how hopeful, can feel distant and unreachable, and he must find his own way to navigate the challenges, pain, and uncertainties of growing up. Through laughter, small adventures, and glimpses of extraordinary people around him, Mirai learns about human desires, heartbreak, and the limits of reaching for something beyond his grasp.

Chapter 1 - Chapter 1:A Place I Can See But Can Not Touch

I, Mirai Tsukuyomi, a 1st-year high schooler,

have one singular question for you who watches—beyond what I call my world, a world where people use the word 'love' even though they'll forget that person.

"What is fate? Is fate the path our gods have chosen for us, or the path we ourselves have created yet blamed others for?"

I whisper softly as my gaze lingers on the celestial body of the moon—my sight focused on such visible light, yet... too far to reach alone.

After a few moments, I silently close my window, as if not wanting to stick to the fate given by you. I walk forward to my bed with a tired expression and seemingly expressionless eyes—as if longing for something. As I lie down, I silently close my eyes.

---

After a few hours, I hear a loud voice outside my house yelling. I instantly know it's one of my friends, Iretzu Hajime.

"Tsukuyomi! It's time for school!" he yells loudly, as if he were a female actor in a horror movie after hearing a footstep.

I softly grunt and open my eyes, seeing I'm late for school. I sigh and say to myself, "It's not like I'll get punished more if I stay a little longer."

But I decide to just get up from my bed and get ready for school.

"How long have you guys been waiting for?" I gently ask as I stretch my arms, letting the light of the sun hit me.

Iretzu suddenly hits my back playfully and speaks, "What took you so long? Putting on some makeup?" then chuckles softly.

(Iretzu Hajime — 2nd-year high school student and one of the most famous in our school; known for his blonde golden hair yet as playful as a child. Some call him 'Prince,' but what I like to call him is the 'Golden-Haired Idiot.' He's also the captain of our school basketball club.)

I casually karate-chop Iretzu's forehead. "Seriously, if you wanna hit me, at least do it harder till I can't hit back." I sigh, but with a slight sense of familiarity.

I suddenly hear a voice from the corner of my eye and see Riza Hajime—the younger sister of Iretzu.

Riza speaks like a tsundere scolding someone... but not very lovingly. "Quiet down, you two, and keep moving." Riza gently sighs, her face serious.

(Riza Hajime — 1st-year high school student and the exact opposite of her brother Iretzu; with black straight hair and glasses across her eyes, she looks like she came out of a fantasy... or a horror movie, for me though. She's known as our school's top smartest student.)

The three of us continue walking toward school. As we pass through the streets, something suddenly catches my gaze from afar—a beautiful girl with golden shining hair, as if she were the nearest light.

As I stare at the person, I suddenly lose track of her as a truck interrupts my view.

I look in front of me and notice Iretzu and Riza are already ahead of me.

I catch up to them, and Riza speaks, "What took you so long? Suddenly spotted a dead person?" she says jokingly, in her usual cold and rather annoying voice.

A few minutes later, Riza and I arrive at our class. I sit in my chair and... sleep at my desk.

A few minutes later, I hear footsteps approaching from behind—and someone suddenly hits me on the head.

The person speaks with a calming but gentle voice, "You're late again, Mi-kun! I thought you were hit by a car and eaten by a zombie by the time you got here!" she says jokingly, but with a hint of softness.

I harshly flick her forehead and reply in my usual tone, "You're so imaginative, Misaki. You could've said something like, 'Ohh, I was so worried, blah blah blah.'"

(Misaki Tsurena — 1st-year high school student with stunning pink hair, known for her softness and kind nature. She's not quite smart, but she's famous in and out of school, probably because she once acted in a movie when she was just five.)

A few hours later, our homeroom teacher arrives—her name is Tsukasa, though we call her Ma'am Tsukasa.

She stares at me and says, "Rare to see you late, 'Moon God.'" Her tone carries a hint of sharpness, like she's scolding me... oh wait, she is.

I plainly respond, "Do you really wanna know what I di—"

Ma'am Tsukasa cuts me off and responds, "Yes. Care to explain?" Her voice is filled with harshness, but with a hint of worry.

I casually reply, "Well... I watched adult content." Everyone in the class stares at me, as if I were a thief caught red-handed.

I softly say, "Just kidding." I sigh and rest my head on my hand.

A few hours later pass. I decide to skip class and go to the rooftop.

When I arrive, I hear a gentle voice at the corner of my ear. I look to my left and see the same golden-haired girl sitting at the edge of the railing.

She suddenly speaks softly, "Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet—what do you see when you stare at our stars?" She faces me and smiles softly.

I stare at her—hair as bright as the sun, eyes as blue as the sea, and a genuine smile.

She speaks again, gazing at me. "Or is what you see... as bright as me?" she smirks casually.

---

A genuine smile of Amaterasu—too bright and strong to melt down even the biggest iceberg, too beautiful; too wonderful... yet I alone cannot reach such places, neither can you.

No human could reach such a bright future, alone.

Death, pain, torture, heartbreak—all caused by humanity's greed and lust for power.

I stare at the celestial body of the sun as the light passes through my eyes; it pains me a bit, yet I still stare.

May I—no, may we ask you: is your bright future too far to reach alone?
