Chapter 27 - Meeting the contractor

"Ignore these idiots, we are the people who were hired for this request" Donnie quickly took charge, as the only one without something covering most of his face.

"Well come in then. He'll be happy to see you" the man said. once everyone was inside of the establishment the man quickly turned around, speaking: "my name is Charles evergreen" the man said, his accent more posh now.

"My grandfather earl will be just down the hall. Find seats and I'll bring him to you." After saying this, the man went down the hall. It was relatively short, only 3 doors down from the main living area, but at the end of the hall were stairs that connected to the second floor. they were currently in a room with a fireplace to the left, and a small kitchen on the right. nice wood floors, with 3 chairs in front of the fireplace.

"Im liking this place already." Chase said, walking to the left, picking the middle chair to sit in. as he looked at the fireplace, he was in thought. 'I need to know, what more does this "system" I have entail? What can I do with it?

Moreover, I just have two people sitting in my core? My soul?' holding out his hands, he envisioned a glowing red screen and it materialized.

'I guess it's at the top because that's what I'm currently working on. Let's see if their is something else I could do right now.'

Looking slightly lower and he saw something else.

[Bloodline 2]:(locked)

[overall attribute points]:40

Rank:[1/9]

That was the end of his findings. 'Interesting. I believe that my "evolutions" might change my rank. More importantly, there are nine ranks?'

the strongest Chase had ever encountered was a rank 3. Since The strength gap gets more and more horrendous as a rank increases, Chase did not want to see what a rank 7 was, let alone be in the same area code as a rank nine.

"I'll make sure to be very nice to people, never know who you tick off. I'm a nice guy though, I've got nothing to worry about surely." he heard breathing and turned to see Damian on his right and Andrew on his left, each eyeing the glowing red rectangle floating just above his hands.

"this is a crazy thing. The strongest in my family was rumored to be rank five" Andrew said. Damian quickly joined in."Old money here is talking crazy, but I'm seeing crazier. What does evolution even look like?"

"What are you guys even looking at?" Donny who was on the side, having taken a chair from the kitchen, gave very confused looks at a group who, from his perspective, was looking at chases empty palm like it held the secrets of the universe.

at that moment, footsteps echoed in the hall, alerting the group. they all turned to look.

What met their vision was a man who seemed to be in his 40s, he had grey hair down to his shoulders and a short beard that connected to his mustache.

he wore a robe of the gods knights, it looked a little bit more customized, showing that at least during his time serving, he was a well respected warrior. His face looked serious, and he carried the aura of a man who had been in many battles,

some lost, most won.

He calmly strolled to the center of the living room, before standing in front of the door, scanning the crew with his eyes. Donny looked back unflinching, but nobody else wanted him to get too good of a look for obvious reasons.

"This is my grandfather, earl. He was a force of nature on the battlefield, rank two before he was crippled in a fight with his brother for head of the family."

"I still am" earl said, correcting his grandson.

"But seeing as I'm just slightly stronger that the strongest mundane man, I need some backup to protect my home"

"Help me today, and tomorrow I shall reward you handsomely. Once the village gets back on track, you will have me backing you."
