Alzred's POV
I felt my body getting weaker and weaker every day. My death was so distant that I could feel how close it was.
It was in the middle of the night when my heart began to fail. I lay next to Aurora, and the last thing I wanted was for her to notice. Alexis lay after Aurora as I stretched my hands, trying to tap Alexa.
I felt so weak, and it became impossible to get off, like I'd been poisoned with a wolf's bane. My system was shutting down.
"No!" I muttered under my breath as I tried to pull myself up.
Everything began to flashback into my head: the agreement with the witch, my parents deaths, the curse.
I held my head with both hands as I groaned in pain. The genetic sensation I felt in my head was unbearable.
Luckily, Alexis sat up as she saw me; she silently rushed towards me and helped me up as we walked outside.
I began to pant as we got outside the house, and she stared at me with pity in her eyes.
"Alzred, how much time do you have?" She began to sob. "Isn't there any way to fix this or change this? Perhaps some ritual or something?"
"Alexis," I called faintly. "Please keep it low."
"Keep it low?" She scoffed. "How long do you intend to hide it from her? From the look of things, you have no time or do you intend on not telling her?" She asked worriedly.
"Now isn't the right time, Alexis." I managed to say.
"Right time? There's still a right time." she asked, anstonished. "Can you take a look at yourself and tell me how much time you have left? Perhaps I'll understand there's still a moment to be tagged as the right time!''
My body clenched as my head ached badly and vibrated to a certain sound. Everything around me was so blurry, despite being a wolf and being able to see clearly in the darkness.
"Are you okay?" Alexis asked as she walked up to me.
"Yeah," I managed to say as I gripped her hands. "I have a few weeks, and I'll tell her on the day."
"Shh!" She placed her hands over my lips, hugging me tight as tears fell down her eyes.
"But…"she stuttered. "Isn't there anything to be done? To stop all of theses?"
"I accepted the curse, Alexis. I'm sure there's nothing to be done."
There was a moment of silence as suspense played in our mist while my head reminded me of all the good memories I've shared with and without the title of a Lycan king.
"Alexis, we should go have a moment together and talk to father and mother as a family; this might be the last time." I forced out a smile while she nodded.
She helped me get to my feet as we walked down the forest.
Aurora's POV
I stood in front of a big tree with my palms open to accept something.
Something stood before me; it was a shadow of a woman. I couldn't see her human body, but it was a mighty shadow as it stood behind a tall tree, making itself visible.
"You have disappointed us; we warned you about it, but you chose not to listen and turned selfish," she said as her voice bore anger.
I didn't dare utter a word as I bent my head, ashamed of my own foolishness.
"You've brought not just shame into our lineage but taken away the inheritance from our family, and that you must correct! If you fail to do so, you've lost access to the internal home after your death, and that marks another suffering after life."
"And what must I do?" I asked furiously.
"You must take what has been taken from you, avenge those who have stolen your position, and win at all costs, and this should never repeat itself." She answered in a loud and thunderous voice.
'And how much time do I have?" I asked as powers from nowhere filled me as I began to have to have the urge to fight.
"Eight weeks left; you must fulfill this mission and win this battle before the ninth week. You must go with your destined mate, and you shall bear a son and name him after your father," she said and disappeared.
I found myself sweating as I jumped up to my feet.
"It's a dream; it's a dream!" I breathed out a sigh of relief, panting.
My eyes darted around as I found nobody. "Where on earth did they go?" I said as I walked out of the house.
The whole place fell quiet as I couldn't find any trace of a human being.
"Alexis! Alzred!" I called from a distance but got no response as the dream began to replay in my head.
I doubt that it was a dream; it felt so real. The woman sounded exactly like my mother and scented exactly like her. "Was this a message my mother was trying to pass?" I thought.
I was already prepared to carry out my revenge, but everything got confused when she mentioned my mate.
"Does this have something to do with Alzred? Is Alzred really my mate?" My head kept wandering about.
I kept walking into the forest, already seen as my new home, as I'd mastered where every path led. I began to hear voices calling as I walked closer to her.
Alas, I found the siblings having a moment as I walked towards them.
Alexis was the first to see me as she told her brother about my arrival.
"What are you guys doing here? Isn't it bedtime?" I asked about reaching there.
"You know you're so eligible to answer that too." She smiled. "So why are you up? As for us, we came here to pay a visit to our parents and probably have a word with them." She said In a faint voice.
