Chapter 45 - Black Crusade

The cruiser quickly departed the combat zone. To be honest, Noah's favorability towards the Emperor had been soaring.

After all, the Emperor, this local human deity, truly helped him.

However, his favorability towards the Chaos Gods of the Warp had plummeted to rock bottom.

These guys actually treated humans so cruelly, even planning to put him to death.

These four Chaos Gods must be destroyed; they must be annihilated to atone for everything they have done to humanity!

A doomsday artifact flashed through Noah's mind.

However, this thought was only fleeting; with his current capabilities, he couldn't possibly build such a massive doomsday artifact.

And most importantly, he didn't possess enough powerful psionics to retaliate against the Chaos Gods in the Warp.

In such a situation, even if he built this doomsday artifact, those four Chaos Gods would surely try to stop him. He was no match for them right now.

Moreover, that human deity was innocent; he couldn't just destroy the Warp here, could he?

How exactly to proceed still required careful thought, but Noah still secretly noted this debt in his heart.

He remembered the hatred.

Sooner or later, these Chaos Gods would pay the price!

Due to a previous confrontation with Nurgle, one of the Chaos Gods of the Warp, and having used an emergency jump to evade their sight, Noah now didn't know where he had flown to.

There were two options for an emergency jump.

One option was to return directly to his home port.

The other option was to make a purposeless jump directly to any star system in the universe.

Noah didn't want to draw the attention of the Chaos Gods of the Warp to his own star system, even though he had already thrown out the Psionic Cube, which theoretically could directly block their detection.

But theoretical things are, after all, just theoretical. To be safe, he still chose a random jump.

So now he didn't know which star system he had appeared in.

"Scan the surrounding star systems, create a star chart, and cross-reference it with the Imperium of Man's star chart to determine our current location."

The warship's AI began to operate automatically, then conducted a detailed scan of star systems within 800 light-years, compiling a three-dimensional star chart.

While such a scan couldn't detect all existing star systems in the vicinity.

Nor could it explore what resources these surrounding star systems contained, but at least it could directly ascertain the surrounding situation.

Eight minutes later, a star chart of the surrounding 800 light-years appeared before Noah, allowing him to view it.

According to the Imperium of Man's information, this star sector was currently named Ultima Segmentum.

Noah's brain, which was even more efficient than a quantum computer, quickly made him understand where he had ended up.

Good heavens!

He had jumped directly from the northern part of the Imperium to the eastern part. This maneuver truly left Noah somewhat bewildered.

However, appearing in the Ultima Segmentum improved his mood significantly, as there was no rampant Warp pollution here.

There seemed to be a large amount of chaotic Warp energy still flying this way, but overall, the air was still relatively fresh.

Appearing here gave Noah time to properly recover all the energy he had previously expended, and the Psionic Legion also needed time to recover.

"Activate the stealth system, hide at the very edge of this star system. I need to recover my psionics first."

"Be ready for combat at any time. If Chaos Daemons or similar units appear again, eliminate them immediately!"

While recovering himself, Noah didn't forget to give instructions to his warship system.

As the cruiser's stealth field slowly expanded at the edge of the star system, Noah sat cross-legged in the meditation room in the center of the bridge.

A ghostly blue psionics aura circulated around him, slowly revolving like a nebula. The ship's AI's mechanical voice echoed in the cabin.

"Dark energy shields deployed to maximum power, all weapon systems on standby."

Suddenly, an anomalous signal flashed on the holographic star chart. The AI immediately issued an alert: "Webway traffic 3 light-years away. Energy signature... does not belong to Chaos Forces."

"It has not yet been identified which faction it belongs to; it does not match any faction recorded in the federation's archives."

"Detecting a large number of Warp fluctuations in the surrounding star sector, a large number of Chaos Gods of the Warp's fleets have appeared."

Alarm after alarm urgently warned Noah.

Noah, who had already sat down to begin recovering his psionics, opened his eyes once again due to these developments.

He was forced to take out another portion of zelo from his spatial backpack.

Seeing the large consumption of zelo in his backpack, a flicker of heartache crossed Noah's eyes.

For Noah currently, this item was an irreplaceable resource.

At least until he created the synthesis product, this item was an irreplaceable and rapidly depleting energy source for him.

Using such a thing to restore his psionics was truly too wasteful.

This was a valuable item for cultivating Psykers; he could 'pull up seedlings to help them grow,' enhancing the psionics of ordinary people. The current Psionic Legion under Noah's command was 'pulled up' by him.

Because of this, this item was precious to Noah at this moment.

In the previous battle with the Chaos Gods of the Warp, he had already consumed a large amount of reserves, and now he had to consume reserves again to recover. It was simply outrageous.

After consuming a portion of zelo and restoring his psionics to its peak, Noah reopened his eyes.

Heartache.

Followed by fury.

The sudden invaders had caused him to expend a precious resource, so the loss of these resources would naturally have to be compensated by these invaders.

"Search for the surrounding Chaos Fleet, find them, and we will eliminate them!"

"I certainly can't defeat those powerful psionics entities in the Warp, but I can take out my anger on their subordinates!"

Noah spoke somewhat irritably.

"Detecting Chaos Fleet coordinates, distance: 3.22 light-years, quantity: one Warband-class Fleet, main vessels are two raider-class cruisers, the rest are small assault ships."

"Total number of warships, small and medium combined, is 12."

The AI quickly locked onto the target, and crimson markers appeared on the holographic star chart.

Thanks to the control and data of the governor on the Imperium of Man's planet obtained earlier, Noah now had some understanding of the classification of the Chaos Fleet.

At least he had some knowledge of their ship types.

Looking at the Chaos Fleet before him, a cruel glint flashed in Noah's eyes.

It was clear from their actions that they hadn't discovered him at all.

And most importantly, according to the intelligence and information he had gathered.

Neither the Imperium of Man nor the Chaos Forces' warships possessed superluminal or light-year-range over-the-horizon strike capabilities.

This meant that he could now fiercely attack the opposing Chaos Fleet, and they wouldn't even know what was happening.

"Open fire! Full power! Destroy that fleet in front of me!"

Noah gave his command, seething with rage.
