*Pop* a small rice corn landed on the ground, making a popping sound.
Two more followed *Pop*, *Pop*.
"Elder brother, what are you doing?" just as Jia Yi was throwing rice corns on the grounds, he saw four people coming from afar.
"Fifth uncle! Fourth uncle!" he called out to the two middle-aged men, then he smiled at his two younger cousin "Xianghu and Xianghe are also here!"
It was Xianghe who asked, she quickly ran forward and took her elder brother's hand, looking at the rice corns in his hand.
Xianghu came behind her, a bit slower, trying to look mature, but his gleaming eyes revealed his curiosity.
"Haha, Xianghu, come here, don't be shy."
"I-I'm not shy!" Xianghu said, coming forward as if to prove he wasn't shy, forgetting his act of being mature and not caring about things.
Behind them, Jia Yi's fourth uncle, Jia Miaolu laughed "Haha, Jia Yi still knows how to make you react, you brat!"
Xianghu acted like he didn't hear as he looked at the rice corn in Jia Yi's hand, one of his XIanghe had already snatched.
Miaoyu scolded "He'er! You can't just take anything!"
"It's not anything, it's Jia Yi's! Anyways, he didn't stop us, so it's not dangerous!" just as she said this, the rice corn, squeezed between her fingers, made a *Pop* sound.
Miaoyu was surprised and wanted to rush forward, but seeing her elated expression and Jia Yi's calm attitude, he stopped himself.
Xianghu, on the side, couldn't stop himself and did the same, supressing a laugh.
When the two separated their fingers, there was a small white mark.
Miaolu seemed more relax and asked "What happened?"
Xianghe said happily "When I pop them like this, there's a tingling sensation!"
Xianghu nodded repeatedly.
Jia Yi finally explained "These are popping rice. When you throw them on the ground, it makes a popping sound, and when you press them with your fingers, the sound will be lower but you will feel a small tingling."
As he said this, he took out more rice corns from the bag hanging on his waist, giving a handful to each of the children.
Xianghe instantly looked at Xianghu and suddenly threw one in front of him.
Surprised, Xianghu dodged, only to feel embarrassed that he dodged such a small thing.
Instantly, he chased the already running Xianghe and threw rice corns in her direction.
"Popping rice?" Miaoyu on the side asked surprised.
"I've heard of exploding rice, is popping rice similar to this?" Miaolu asked after his younger brother.
"Same principle probably. I haven't grown any exploding rice, so I don't know." Jia Yi shrugged.
"How did you grow it?" Miaoyu, who was closer to Jia Yi, asked curiously.
"Who knows? Don't ask me. Ask the rice plant! It was so stubborn, refusing to yield even a bit, finally making its rice corns pop.
Anyways, it's just one plant. Every acre has ten thousand plants, a single won't make a difference."
A rice plant required around one square metre, while an acre, a 100m x 100m space, was 10.000 square metres large, meaning he had exactly ten thousand rice plants.
"That's true. Especially with your yield, it really don't make a big difference." Miaolu agreed, not further pressing on this.
Jia Yi had repeatedly shown them weird plants and told them this was what the plants wanted. They could only agree and secretly guess that he had a special ability or affinity for plants.
The cultivation world was vast and this was their relative, they didn't need to inspect things too clearly.
"What's your harvest this time?" Miaoyu asked.
It had been two week since Jia Yi fulfilled the plants wishes. After the first week, they were basically fully grown, so he harvested them. Green Shining Rice had a growth period of a year, a lower-level rice plant.
There were variants that grew faster, but these were far inferior to the Green Shining Grass.
"It's 260 kilograms, slightly better than last time."
"260! You surpassed the frame of even the senior farmers!" Miaolu exclaimed, while Miaoyu on the side seemed proud, as if he had taught him personally.
Miaolu saw this and snorted "Your own yield is only 210, why do you look so proud?"
Jia Yi laughed "Haha, fifth uncle taught me well!"
The family gave them the task of harvest, with 150kg being the requirement, while every kilogram above that would reward one spirit stone. After such a long time, the most senior spirit planters assumed the limit of this type of rice was 250kg, but Jia Yi produced 260kg per acre!
"260kg per acre, based on six acres, Jia Yi, this time you will get 660 extra spirit stones!" Miaoyu was a bit shocked.
This much additional spirit stone earning was only a little less than his own families – but he cultivated together with his wife!
One person earns as much as two!
Miaolu on the side was also surprised.
But neither of them were envious – they had seen how much work Jia Yu spent in the field, not to mention that he even slept there.
Although they themselves spent an equal amount of time, they didn't need to cultivate any more.
Both their cultivation was at the ninth stage, so they had a lot of free time, which allowed them to spent so long in the field. An hour of cultivation every day was enough to keep them strong and healthy.
Growing farmers like Jia Yi usually only spent two to three hours in the field. Although the resulting yield was less, sometimes barely above the required amount, they still remained the same.
Only someone like Jia Yi, who was talented and still hard working, would achieve high results in both cultivation and farming!
"We are about to go and deliver the harvest this time. It's said the ship also arrived and would depart a week, so we wanted to register Xianghe and Xianghu this time. Do you want to come with us?" Miaoyu offered.
"Thank you, fifth uncle, for thinking of me! Yes, let's go together."
Although Jia Yi and Miaoyu called each other uncle and nephew, they acted like equals.
The Jia family inherited the flavour of a sect and usually didn't care too much about genealogy, only using it when addressing someone, so there was no "bowing and kneeling" when meeting an elder.
It was like two fellow cultivators calling each other "fellow daoist".
Their address confirmed their family affinity, making every clan member an acquaintance and those closer related at least friends and at most companions of cultivation, better than sect members who regarded most people as strangers.
