Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Plant's wishes

Looking at the rebellious rice plant, Jia Yi was annoyed again "Why are you like this! In all the five years of cultivating plants, you are the only one that wants to make the rice pop!

You are basic Green Shining Rice, not some exploding ride! Ah, you're so annoying, alright, alright. You've had this wish nine times and this is the tenth time. I said I would fulfil a wish, and since this is your only wish, I will fulfil it."

As he said so, he fulfilled the wish, granting a piece of essence to the plant.

Essence dropped like a green pearl from the sky. The visuals were decided by Jia Yi, it would look any way he wanted, but he felt that this was very fitting, so he chose the "pearls falling from the sky, the begin of a prosperous era".

After fulfilling the wish, which looked like a shaking corn with cracks, he left the plant and went to the island.

The result would be known the next day, there was no need to observe anymore.

Although such a wish was rare, there were a few weird wishes, such as making the roots more flexible and move a bit in the soil.

At that time, Jia Yi exclaimed at the plant "You're a plant, why do you need to move around?"

In the end, he fulfilled that wish, and the plant didn't improve. From then on, he decided not to accept random wishes.

Now this plant insisted on it and wished for the same thing ten times, so he had to fulfil it, even at the cost of not gaining any essence.

Sitting in the temple on a futon, he closed his eyes and started cultivation.

A reason for his fast speed was that he could cultivate in his dream.

Because the meridians of a person becomes tired, they can only cultivate for a fixed time every day. Jia Yi could generally cultivate for three hours daily, before feeling a bit sore.

In his dream, he could cultivate the same time he could do so in reality, for a full three hours.

But, unfortunately, the effect was only half. Instead of it being six hours of cultivation, it was four and a half, barely comparable to the normal cultivation of a divine spiritual root.

After all, they cultivated the same time but absorbed around 10-100% more than blessed spiritual roots. The difference between divine spiritual roots was very large.

Fortunately, compared to the poor effect of cultivation, the effect of learning wood-type spells in this space was greatly enhanced.

Thinking of this, Jia Yi hoped to one day include the water element, and various other elements, so that the dream would give him more advantages!

After three hours of cultivation, he felt a little sore. Even the feeling was the same!

He stopped and started practicing his spells: besides the Wood Blessing spell, he had three other farming spell.

The Wood Birthing spell, which germinated seeds faster, the Wood Harvesting spell, which harvested and sealed the residual spiritual power of plants, and finally, a semi-farming spell, the Wooden Needle spell, which formed pine needles with spiritual power, used to kill pests.

The last could also be used in attack, though it was relatively weak. But it could be used in conjunctures to real pine needles, in which the spell would become stronger by several levels.

Besides these four spells, Jia Yi practiced two more: Entanglement, a classic spell of using nearby vines to entangle enemies, and Flying Leaves, another attack spell similar to the Wood Needle, it required leaves, but it had the specialty of including wind-type energy, which made it stronger but also less controllable.

Although there was a lack of wind-type energy in the dream, Jia Yi could compensate by learning in the real world, at least halving the required learning time of the spell.

The farming spells were all used in both the dream and reality anyways, so he mainly focused the remaining sleep time to practice Entanglement, Wood needle and Flying Leaves. He had prepared vines, needles and leaves for this practice.

Shooting needles and swirling leaves could be seen flying over the island.

They smooth-sailing and seemed even more powerful in this world, something that made Jia Yi wish he could employ this effect into the real world, to enhance his fighting power.

Among the five foundational elements, wood is known to have the lowest fighting power. Compared to that, it had strong vitality and healing abilities, which was why wood cultivators would live longer and retain their peak power for longer. Spiritual illnesses and poisons couldn't affect them either.

Jia Yi practiced for a long time until he felt mentally exhausted.

Spiritual power might not be an issue, but in this dream world, every minute he was here, he would exhaust his mental power. Fortunately, after leaving, he would feel as if he slept a whole night.

His previous limit was four hours, and now it became four and a half.

Somehow, he would be fine staying awake for three to five days without being exhausted mentally, but if he spent even a minute longer here, he would feel the consequences the next day, as if he had a bad dream or slept in a bad position.

Even though he was faster in this dream, it would still take him an hour to farm the whole territory, while it took him an hour per acre in the real world.

Every day, he took care of two acres, cultivated for an hour, took care of another two, cultivated another hour, and another last round. With this, he had already spent nine hours of the day. The remaining time was used for various other matters, such as eating, learning spells, basic knowledge about taking care of plants, visiting friends and relatives, selling things, and so on.

The day for him was a busy but enjoyable time. He guessed that at the ninth stage of qi refining, just cultivating and taking care of the fields would take sixteen hours (another hour of cultivation after his body became stronger).

Sixteen hours of work, six hours of sleep, all that was left would be two hours of "free time".

To make sure he could use that time well, he had to learn all the basic things now, preparing for an even busier future!
