Chapter 2 - burn

USA – Austin, 3:00 A.M.

The VIP suite of The Roy Hotel was drowned in darkness.

A soft blue light glowed faintly, falling directly on a king-size bed.

Lying on his stomach was a 25-year-old man. From the waist down, he wore only a thin black track pant the rest of his body was bare. His broad back, defined muscles, and visible veins made it clear he wasn't an ordinary man. His body, his skin, his entire presence everything about him screamed irresistible.

The room was silent until the vibration of a phone broke it.

The phone lay on the edge of the bed. Without opening his eyes, he reached out and picked it up.

"Hmm…?"

Even his sleepy voice carried authority.

A panicked voice came from the other side

"Sir… s-sir…"

He opened one eye and glanced at the screen "Nablo calling."

"Any problem, Nablo?"

His voice still held traces of sleep, but the tone had already turned cold and sharp.

"Sir, there's a fire… at both the warehouse and the factory! And it's… it's getting out of control!"

That was enough to wake him completely.

Without another word, he stood up, opened the wardrobe drawer, and pulled out a key.

Still shirtless, wearing only track pants, he left the room.

By the time he reached The Roy Hotel's private parking, the calm confidence in his stride made it clear someone was going to pay for this.

Amid a line of red, blue, and black high-end cars and bikes, he slid into a matte black Lamborghini and sped off toward his factory.

Roy Pharma Factory

Flames surrounded the building. Firefighters were doing everything they could.

At that moment, a black car screeched to a halt near the factory. The door opened, and Adhvir Roy stepped out.

The name sounded simple but it carried power, and fear.

His upper body was still bare just black track pants and shoes. Against the backdrop of fire and smoke, he looked like a dark god dangerous and unstoppable.

As soon as Nablo saw him, he ran toward him, taking off his coat to cover him.

"Sir, in this condition…?"

"Would saving my clothes have reduced the loss worth billions?"

His tone was calm cold, but cutting.

The fire raged on. Roy Pharma his hard work, his empire was turning into ashes.

Yet, looking at Adhvir's face, no one could tell if he was angry.

He was just watching silently, with an eerie calm.

"I guess I've been feeding stray dogs for free…"

He spoke softly, but his words made Nablo shiver to the bone.

"Sir, billions worth of goods are gone…"

Adhvir smirked slightly.

"It's just a piece of cake, Nablo. The factory burned, but the formula…" he tapped his head "…is right here."

"Someone's got a lot of courage to attack Adhvir Roy's empire directly. Looks like it's time to teach them a lesson."

He looked straight into Nablo's eyes.

"Find out who's behind this. And when you do, bring me that hand cut off understood?"

Then he put on his black sunglasses, turned, and started walking back toward his car.

"And yes… next time you wake me up for something this small, consider your career burnt in this same fire. I'm forgiving you today — not again."

He got into the car, shut the door, started the engine, and drove off.

The fire still burned…

but now, it wasn't just in the factory — it was burning inside Adhvir Roy.

As he drove, he muttered under his breath,

"This loss will cost you dearly…"

Two Days Later – Mumbai, India – 6:00 A.M.

Before Mumbai's usual rush began, the city was calm.

An orange glow spread across the blue sky — like an artist's first stroke marking the start of a new day.

Far from that brightness, in a small room, a mother's warmth arrived before the sun.

Wrapped in a light cotton saree, a woman around 45 entered the room.

Her face didn't show tiredness it carried the peace only a mother feels when she sees her child.

She held a cup of tea; the scent of ginger filled the air.

She walked to the window and gently pulled the curtains aside.

The first sunlight touched the books, posters, and dreams hanging on the walls and finally fell on the face of a girl still hiding under the blanket.

The woman smiled.

"Avira…" she said softly, "Wake up, sweetheart. It's morning already."

There was some movement under the blanket but no reply.

She sat beside the bed, brushed Avira's forehead with her fingers, and said,

"I thought you wouldn't sleep a wink last night… and look at you now — sleeping like a baby! Aren't you even worried about your results?"

The word "results" made Avira jump out of bed.

Her hair was messy, eyes sleepy — but her face glowed with energy.

"What?! Oh God!"

She looked at the clock — 6:17 A.M.

Then she smiled at her mother, kissed her forehead, and said,

"Mom, don't worry so much. Your daughter is Avira Shekhawat — a topper! My results will be amazing, and I'll get into the best university in the world — you can write that down."

Her voice wasn't arrogant — it carried confidence and determination.

Anjali Shekhawat saw in her daughter's eyes the same spark that comes right before a storm.

"Yes, yes, Miss Topper… now get ready. I made your favorite breakfast — upma!"

Anjali left the room, and as soon as she did, Avira's phone silent till now suddenly lit up.

A strange message appeared on the screen:

"The game has begun. Trust no one not even yourself."

The phone screen turned black immediately, as if someone had shut it down on purpose.

Those weren't just words they were the beginning of something mysterious.

A while later, Avira came out of the bathroom, fresh and glowing.

Still in her bathrobe, she picked up her phone — it was calm again.

But her eyes had that spark as if she sensed a new story was about to begin.

She dialed Jessmin.

"Jessie, want to go shopping today?"

Jessmin laughed. "Ugh, I can't relax without knowing the results. If they're good, maybe my dream university will finally happen!"

Avira grinned mischievously. "You're studying hard for some cute doctor, aren't you? Forget it let's just go out today. Get ready, I'm coming to pick you up."

Jessmin smiled, "Something's up with you today — lyour mood's different!"

Later – At the Shopping Mall

Among colorful clothes, Avira and Jessmin wandered around.

Jessmin picked up a red top and said, "I heard he sometimes visits our college. That's why I'm thinking of buying some killer outfits!"

Avira chuckled. "Then maybe I should add some style too!"

Both laughed and kept shopping until Avira's phone suddenly vibrated.

She looked at the screen and froze.

Her eyes widened.

"Jessie… our results are out!!"

The words made Jessmin drop all the shopping bags.

Both girls quickly opened their results on their phones , and within seconds, their faces turned pale.

Shock filled their eyes.

Jessmin's lips trembled… while Avira's eyes grew silent — dark with realization.

Roy Farmhouse – Lower Parel

A luxurious villa — Adhvir Roy's personal farmhouse.

Inside a large study room, Adhvir sat bent over his laptop.

His eyes were on the screen, but his mind was far away.

Just then, there was a knock at the door.

"Come in," Adhvir said, his tone strict and emotionless.

Mr. Rastogi, his father's old personal assistant, entered.

His hands trembled slightly — everyone feared Adhvir's presence.

Without looking up, Adhvir asked,

"Tell me, Mr. Rastogi… who is responsible for my father's condition?"

Rastogi took a heavy breath.

"Sir… the master's condition is still critical. But I suspect one person — Mr. Rohan Gupta, your father's business partner."

"Rohan Gupta?"

Adhvir's eyes hardened as he looked directly at him.

"Alright. From now on, I'll handle all my father's business matters. Email me all the documents. And one more thing — I'll complete my remaining studies from here."

Then, in his cold voice, he added,

"And don't let anyone know I've returned to India — not until I say so."

Mr. Rastogi nodded silently and left the room.

Who set the factory on fire? What will their first meeting be like? Stay tuned to find out.
