Chapter 48 - Base

It's no surprise; mages naturally feel superior.

Mysterious and profound magic is not something anyone can control; only true innate geniuses can.

Furthermore, the high elves were banished to this continent by the night elves precisely because they were so engrossed in arcane magic that they couldn't extricate themselves.

The end of magic can easily lead to a loss of sanity, attracting demons.

"If they can't understand, then it's better to separate. There will always be a time when they lower their heads and beg you."

"For now, let's focus on finding and rescuing the scattered elves."

"Those who wish to stay can stay, and those who don't can return to Tirisfal Glades with the fleet. What do you think?"

Arthas was focused on completing his mission; otherwise, with his personality, he wouldn't be so compassionate.

Saving the world is acceptable because the World-Soul of Azeroth truly rewards him, which is definitely a win-win transaction.

But saving other races?

People's hearts are inscrutable; who knows if it's a case of the farmer and the snake?

If not for the mission reward, he wouldn't care about the high elves. Just for their arrogance in mocking him after he resurrected them, he should send more of them to hell!

That night, a defensive line was established around the Windrunner Spire.

Laborers quickly built watchtowers for reconnaissance and defense.

The army was divided into three parts: one part on duty in the first half of the night, another in the second half, and the remaining main force resting throughout.

Arthas was grilling sausages by the bonfire, with a fragrant mug of wheat beer beside him. If only there was some Hearthstone Tavern background music, it would be even more perfect.

"You want to learn Teleportation magic?"

Jaina's beautiful eyes blinked; she found it hard to believe her lover could learn magic.

Magic is noble precisely because it requires talent. Besides high talent, one also needs money to buy magic materials and equipment.

Money + high talent = Archmage.

Is it really appropriate for a death knight not to believe in the Holy Light and instead learn arcane magic from her?

"Of course! Just tell me about it; I'll listen. What if I learn it?"

"I know you like milk, so I brought you a cup."

Jaina's eyebrows twitched a few times, looking at her lover with suspicion.

"Is this milk... normal milk?"

Upon hearing this, Arthas' mouth twitched a few times. This princess has also learned to be naughty.

"Ahem, of course it's normal."

He took out a cup of milk and a plate of fried pork chops from his backpack. Similar items could be stacked in large quantities, and they stayed fresh and preserved, so he didn't worry about spoilage.

Jaina didn't detect any spatial fluctuations. If it were a storage-type spatial ring or necklace, there would at least be a slight spatial echo or ripple.

Yet, there was no spatial fluctuation at all, and he just pulled out milk and fried pork chops from behind him. It seemed utterly illogical.

"It seems you have many secrets!"

She blinked, took the milk and pork chops, and began to eat. She was quite hungry.

Campaigning and warfare weren't so convenient, especially when it came to food. Everything was compressed, dehydrated food that tasted strange.

After eating and drinking her fill, Jaina began to explain magical knowledge, gesturing in the air with her staff.

This involved too much specialized knowledge, including spatial coordinate positioning and arcane spell protection.

It was said that to reach the level of independent teleportation, one needed to master at least eight magic courses; otherwise, forced teleportation would only result in loss of life.

If one's head teleported away while the body remained behind, such a teleportation was clearly a failure.

Arthas listened, feeling drowsy and on the verge of yawning, as if he were back in a classroom listening to a teacher lecture.

Perhaps he was never a good student. He was now forcing himself to suppress yawn after yawn, as it would be disrespectful to Jaina.

He was still hoping to learn such a miraculous skill as Teleportation. Although it didn't directly boost combat power, it was top-tier in terms of utility.

Time is money, my friend.

The travel time saved by Teleportation could bring more benefits!

Perhaps it wasn't that simple. By the latter half of the night, Jaina was constantly yawning.

Arthas could only tell her to rest first, as it would be safer to spend the night inside the Windrunner Spire.

Occasionally, muffled hacking sounds came from outside, the night watch soldiers slaying wandering undead.

Without professional commanders, it seemed The Scourge's focus was entirely on Silvermoon City.

Arthas was about to rest when a female elf approached him.

The imagined embrace didn't happen; instead, she looked at him with a serious expression, having an important decision to discuss with him.

"You could try keeping some bangs. Having some bangs would look better on you at any time."

Looking at the high elf priestess before him, the future second-in-command of the Blood elves, Arthas said half-jokingly.

Liadrin's serious face forced out a faint smile, awkward yet polite.

"Prince Arthas, although it might be presumptuous, I still want to ask you to help Silvermoon City overcome this crisis."

Was she asking him to launch a surprise attack from behind The Scourge?

Arthas fell into thought. It wasn't that he was unwilling; he was more focused on slacking off in the vicinity, luring away the distressed elf civilians to complete his mission.

The undead army outside Silvermoon City was at least 200,000 strong, and it was said that the Lich King had even resurrected several death knights to command the chaotic undead.

When it came to strategy and warfare, the Lich King Ner'zhul himself was not skilled; his talents were all focused on necromancy.

Without relying on the resurrected death knights, the disorganized undead army would eventually be annihilated.

"Are you asking me to launch a surprise attack from behind the undead? Our small force probably isn't even enough to fill their teeth."

"Tell me your thoughts. Since I've come to assist, I won't stand idly by. However, I also need to be responsible for my people and cannot lead them to destruction."

At the top of the tower.

Sylvanas and her sister Vereesa were chatting. rangers had a unique way of recovering stamina, and the two sisters were discussing their recent experiences.

Just as they were talking about Vereesa's departure during the orc War, Liadrin's voice came from below.

"We'll talk later. Let's go down and see."

Sylvanas stopped her youngest sister's words. She was very concerned about her lover's movements, fearing a conflict.

If it came to being caught between her lover and her race, she would be the most conflicted one.

Vereesa immediately covered her mouth and laughed, rarely getting a chance to tease her second sister.

"Hehehe, are you worried about my brother-in-law?"

"Liadrin is quite good, but she's a bit foolishly loyal. She's probably loyal to the royal family."

They were all high elves, constantly seeing each other. They were either in Silvermoon Woods or Silvermoon City; there was nowhere else to go. How could they not know each other well?

They had all heard from the elf soldiers about their arrogance, and the nobles in Silvermoon City would only be even more arrogant and annoying.
