Dominic refused to grant me even a moment to process my humiliation.
As darkness blanketed the mansion, he wasted no time dragging Kari into their private sanctuary. The sounds that followed pierced through the walls like daggers.
The agony that slammed into my core was so brutal I nearly collapsed into unconsciousness. I found myself on my hands and knees, crawling across the cold floor of my designated chamber. My insides felt like they were being shredded apart, my heart hammered against my ribs, and my mind went completely numb.
Then clarity struck like lightning.
Fighting through the torturous waves of pain, I forced myself upright and stumbled toward the door. The hallways stretched before me in complete darkness, not a soul to be found in the dead of night.
But I knew exactly where my feet needed to carry me.
