Sandy's POV
In the whirlwind of emotions clouding my judgment, I had completely overlooked one crucial detail.
"Where the hell were you?" Dominic's voice cut through the evening air like a blade as I stepped onto the porch, seeking refuge from the suffocating atmosphere inside.
I pivoted to find him positioned against the corner pillar, his bloodshot eyes burning with fury as they locked onto mine.
A sardonic smile played across my lips. "Take a wild guess."
He launched himself forward like a predator closing in on prey. I braced for impact, muscles tensing for his assault, but strong arms encircled his torso, restraining him mere feet from where I stood.
"Dominic, stop! Please don't harm her," Kari's voice cracked with desperation as she deployed her signature damsel-in-distress performance.
I crossed my arms deliberately, studying Dominic's flared nostrils and the darkness consuming his gaze.
