Chapter 16 - Sparing Part One

The sun beat down on the sandy floor of the arena, training grounds of Atlanta's castle, casting a warm glow over the scene. Eris, still learning to control her powers, faced off against Haphaestus estus, her eyes flashing with determination. Ares stood nearby, offering words of encouragement and advice.

"Use your cunning, Eris," Ares said.

"Discord is not just about brute force; it's about manipulation and strategy."ares gave Eris some tips"Begin" he shouted and they both took a fighting stance Eris, the goddess of discord, faced off against Haphaestus, the god of blacksmiths.

Haphestus wielded a massive sword, its blade as tall as Eris herself, crackling with volcanic fire. Eris smiled, her eyes gleaming with mischief, as she drew her twin blades, their edges sharp and deadly.

The duel began, and the two gods clashed in a flurry of steel and fire.

Haphestus swung his massive sword, sending Eris leaping and dodging.

She retaliated with swift strikes from her twin blades, but Haphestus's sword was relentless, its power and size making it a formidable force. As they fought, Eris's powers of discord began to stir, causing the air to ripple and distort around her.

Haphestus stumbled, his eyes narrowing as he struggled to focus.

Eris seized the opportunity, landing a series of swift strikes that sent Haphestus stumbling back. "Eris is a natural," Crimson said, a smile spreading across his face.

Isabelle nodded, her eyes shining with fascination. "But Haphaestus is incredibly powerful. I'm not sure Eris can take him down."Eris, still learning to control her powers, felt a mix of excitement and nerves. Haphaestus, with his powerful physique and mastery over fire, was a formidable opponent. Yet, he was also her brother, and she knew he wanted to bring out the best in her.

Ares's voice cut through the din.

"Haphaestus, don't hold back! Show Eris what she's up against."With a nod, Haphestus increased the intensity of his attacks. Eris stumbled back, her eyes widening as she struggled to keep up. But instead of backing down, she let out a fierce laugh, embracing the chaos within her. Her powers surged, and the air around her seemed to distort, as if reality itself was bending to her will.

Crimson leaned over to Isabelle and whispered, "Eris is getting better.

She's learning to harness her powers."

Isabelle nodded, her eyes fixed on the sparring match. "But Haphaestus estus is still holding back. He's not using his full strength."

Haphestus's eyes narrowed, impressed. "Well done, Eris! You're finally tapping into your true potential."

The sparring match continued, With a fierce cry, she unleashed a wave of discordant energy, aiming to disrupt Haphestus's concentration. The air around them began to ripple, and Haphestus stumbled slightly, his flames faltering. Seizing the opportunity, Eris charged forward, her daggers flashing in the dim light of the forge. Haphestus quickly regained his composure, summoning a wall of flames to block her attack. The sound of clashing steel and crackling fire filled the air as the siblings exchanged blows, But the god of blacksmiths was a formidable opponent, his sword slicing through the air with precision and power.

As the fight wore on, Eris's powers of discord began to stir, causing the air to ripple and distort around her. But Haphestus was unfazed, his focus solely on the battle. With a mighty swing of his sword, he sent Eris flying across the arena.

She landed with a thud, her blades slipping from her grasp. Haphestus strode towards her, his sword raised high. "Yield?" he asked, "Yield," she muttered, this spar shows Eris still has a lot to learn but she's getting stronger if only there was enough time to keep on training herself but unfortunately they had a greater war to prevent.
