Chapter 38 - Bonus chapter

Lorenzo's POV – What the Alpha Never Said

I never feared war. Infact I was born in war

War is loud. Honest. It announces itself with claws and blood and choices you can see coming.

What I feared… was silence.

The kind that settles after screams fade.

The kind that lives behind someone's eyes long after the wounds have healed.

The kind that doesn't beg or cry, because it learned long ago that no one comes when it does.

That was what I saw in Elena the first time I looked at her.

Not weakness.

Not fragility.

Survival.

She didn't speak, but she listened. Really listened.

She noticed everything, how voices shifted, how rooms felt, how danger moved before it arrived. She flinched at sounds no one else reacted to. She watched exits. Watched hands. Watched breathing.

She watched me.

And when the bond snapped into place, violent, undeniable, sacred,I understood something that terrified me more than any enemy I had ever faced.

She was not meant to be protected.

She was meant to be understood.

Every time she shook in her sleep, my control frayed. I would lie awake beside her, muscles locked, fighting the urge to hunt ghosts that no longer had bodies. I wanted to tear the past apart with my bare hands. To undo every cruelty that had carved silence into her bones.

Every time her heat burned through the bond, it nearly broke me.

Not because I couldn't take her,

…but because I could.

And I refused to claim her without her choosing me in return.

What I wanted was never her obedience.

Never her silence.

Never her surrender.

I wanted her choice.

When she spoke my name for the first time, the world cracked open.

Not because of the sound,

but because of what it meant.

She trusted me enough to be heard.

And when she stood beneath a Blood Moon, power tearing through her veins, fear screaming for vengeance, and she chose mercy instead…

I knew.

She was stronger than any Alpha who had ever ruled. Stronger than dominance. Stronger than violence. Stronger than fear.

They bow to me because I am Alpha.

They bow to her because she is truth.

I do not lead alone anymore.

I walk beside a woman who survived hell without losing her soul. A woman who reclaimed her voice, not to command, but to end a war. A woman who chose love when the world begged her to burn.

And if the world ever rises against her again,

I won't hesitate.

I will answer with teeth.

With fire.

With devotion that shatters mountains.

Because she is no longer silent.

And she is mine.
