Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Bullets Are Too Expensive

"First thing's first: the kills are all mine later."

"No problem."

Having reached an agreement, the two said no more and headed straight for the target nightclub.

The few vampires guarding the entrance immediately became alert. "Stop! Who are you?" they demanded sharply.

"The ones collecting you."

Before Du Mu's voice faded, his figure shot out like a phantom!

Swish! Swish! Swish!

Cold light flashed repeatedly. The vampires didn't even have time to react before they were instantly turned to ash under the blur of the blade.

Blade's eyes flickered with surprise. "That's a powerful watermelon knife!"

Du Mu was displeased. "It's a Nichirin Blade! It only looks like a watermelon knife!"

So it's still a watermelon knife!

The corner of Blade's mouth twitched imperceptibly, and he wisely chose silence.

The two continued without stopping, striding confidently into the nightclub.

The moment they entered, two patrolling vampires heard them and came forward.

Swish! Swish!

Du Mu's blade rose and fell in a clean, swift motion. The two vampires turned to ash without even a whimper.

On the other side, Blade also displayed extraordinary skill.

Relying on his inherent racial ability, he was passively concealed in the darkness, silently approaching another vampire. The creature didn't even realize someone was behind it before being smashed hard to the ground by two thudding heavy punches.

Blade kept his promise and left this "kill" for Du Mu.

The two were clearly men of action and needed no tedious planning. A glance was enough for them to understand each other and tacitly enter stealth mode.

In this manner, the two infiltrated deep into the nightclub, and Du Mu's quest progress indicators quickly jumped up by more than a dozen.

Well, you could certainly say the stealth was a huge success!

When they finally stepped into the main interior of the club, a thick stench of blood assailed them.

The fire sprinklers on the ceiling were spraying madly, but what poured out wasn't water—it was viscous, bright red blood!

On the dance floor below, a crowd was thrashing and jumping wildly to deafening music, letting the blood rain drench their entire bodies.

Judging by their ecstatic expressions, there was no doubt: these were all vampires.

Du Mu looked disgusted. "Are all vampires this gross?"

While blood was food for them, a normal human wouldn't spray themselves with soda. How filthy!

Unless they were one of those 'Spirit Guys', of course.

Soon, one of the Spirit Guy vampires spotted the two uninvited guests, and a look of horror instantly crossed his face.

"It's Blade! The Daywalker!"

The vampires' faces instantly went pale, and their eyes fixed on Blade as if they had seen their natural predator!

In the vampire world, Blade's infamous reputation had long preceded him.

Even the recently turned, newbie vampires had heard his name from their elders. He was practically an urban horror legend in the vampire community.

Blade clearly relished this effect.

He grinned, revealing a set of exceptionally white teeth even in the dim lighting.

"I heard you were having a party here. Why didn't anyone invite me?"

"Die, Daywalker!"

One bolder vampire couldn't contain his fear and roared, lunging at Blade!

Swish!

Blade instantly drew a silver longsword. The blade flashed, and the attacking vampire's arms were cleanly severed!

The sword swept back, cleanly slicing off his legs at the knee!

But Blade didn't finish him off. He silently watched the vampire thrash and scream on the ground.

His expression was utterly psycho!

Seeing this, the other vampires immediately lost their nerve.

They were already terrified of Blade, and now they were even more so. They rushed desperately toward the main entrance!

There, they found Du Mu blocking the way.

"Get out of the way, human!"

The lead vampire roared savagely.

Swish!

The answer was a flash of cold light!

The vampire was instantly split in two, dissipating into dust and ashes!

Du Mu locked the main door, his watermelon knife in hand, and smiled slightly at the terror-stricken vampires.

"My apologies, this road is closed."

"He's the Vampire Killer! The lunatic who slaughtered hundreds of vampires these past few days!"

A well-informed vampire screamed, recognizing the community's newest boogeyman.

A hungry wolf in front, a fierce tiger behind!

All the vampires were instantly engulfed by fear—they were surrounded by just two people!

"Don't be afraid! They're only two people! We have the advantage!"

"Kill them!"

Under the pressure of desperation, some vampires were instead roused to ferocity, pouncing on the pair like mad beasts!

Facing the surrounding vampires, Blade gave a contemptuous snort, his silver sword tracing a flowery flourish before he charged directly into the group!

In fact, Blade was a half-human, half-vampire hybrid.

He possessed the vampires' inhuman physique and healing abilities while being immune to all their weaknesses—even the deadly UV light had no effect on him.

If Blade wanted to, he could take a sunbath right in the middle of the day.

This setup was practically a cheat code worthy of a hot-blooded manga!

Coupled with his years of rigorous training, Blade's own combat skills had reached peak mastery. These low-level vampires were absolutely no match for him.

In a short amount of time, there were over a dozen vampires writhing on the ground, missing limbs.

Catching a brief lull in the fighting, Blade glanced at Du Mu, finding that the man had gone completely berserk. The watermelon knife in his hand was swinging so fast it was a blur. With every strike, a vampire wailed and turned to ash!

As a combat master, Blade instantly saw that Du Mu wasn't using any fighting techniques.

It was purely a stat check!

Just then, the door to a private room deeper in the club was violently kicked open, and over a dozen figures in black leather rushed out.

Leading them was a rugged-looking man. He immediately spotted the two figures slaughtering his subordinates in the main room.

The moment he recognized the familiar teeth of Blade, his astonishment instantly turned to rage.

"Blade! You half-breed, vampire-human bastard, you again!"

Blade kicked away a lunging vampire. "Quinn, I came back to play. Are you having fun?"

"F*ck you!"

Quinn roared, flipping the middle finger. "Kill them!"

Receiving the order, the vampires around him immediately pulled out various firearms from their coats, pointing the muzzles at the two men.

As modern vampires, especially in this Land of the Free, carrying a gun was perfectly reasonable.

Rat-a-tat-a-tat-a-tat—!

Countless bullets spat from the barrels, and the two men quickly dove behind cover.

Blade immediately pulled out a powerful-looking shotgun and squeezed the trigger at the charging vampires.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Specialized silver-shot shells sprayed out, instantly blowing the lower halves of several vampires into pulverized mess!

But after only a few shots, Blade suddenly stopped and did not continue firing.

Du Mu asked, puzzled, "Why did you stop?"

"Bullets are too expensive."

Blade's voice held a hint of pain.

Du Mu: "..."
