Chapter 23 - Battle against the 1st Echelon Goblin Commander!

Subsequently, Kael ordered the new resurrected Undead Goblin Captain to join the battle against the more than 100 goblins as he charged forward to help his two undead Goblin Captains kill the last two Goblin Captains.

Since the last two Goblin Captains were already at their last breaths, Kael was able to quickly kill them in just less than 10 seconds.

He then ordered his two undead Goblin Captains to join the fight against more than 100 goblins before using his [Resurrection of the Dead] skill on the two Goblin Captains he had just killed.

Looking at Fenric's direction, Kael cracked his neck and rolled his shoulder as he couldn't wait to join the battle against the 1st Echelon Goblin Commander.

"Kael, answer honestly! Is our chance to kill this green bastard really at 50%?" Fenric shouted angrily as he guessed that Kael might have deceived him.

He wasn't stupid when he saw how strong the 1st Echelon Goblin Commander in front of him was. If it weren't for Kael's continuous healing ability, his situation would've been much worse, and he felt that even with his ultimate skill, he would only be able to severely injure the Goblin Commander in the best scenario.

"Don't worry… Now that I've received an item from the white chest, our chance is really at 50% and might only go up from now on." Kael chuckled and waved his hand shamelessly in the distance as if nothing had happened.

'Fuck this guy! How can he play around and lie about it when our lives are on the line?!' Fenric cursed in his heart and jumped to the side as he noticed that the Goblin Commander was about to whack him.

He then asked, "What should we do now?"

As Kael arrived, he smiled wickedly and replied, "Full attack, of course!"

"Straight assault? No grinding him to his death?" Fenric asked.

Kael bared his teeth. "We will break him before he breaks us."

After Kael said that, he vanished from his spot and reappeared on the Goblin Commander's left side in a gust of wind.

Kael then slashed his sword and tore a cobalt arc over scale mail, causing sparks and leaving a ribbon of greenish blood on the soil. The attack barely left a handspan cut, yet it caused the goblin's midsection to twist.

Wham!

Two undead goblins slammed their bodies into the Goblin Commander's right knee, trying to topple it. A third undead goblin jumped as his cleaver descended, aiming for the shoulder.

The Goblin Commander roared, his monstrous strength leaving a strong backhand attack. Its spiked gauntlet shattered the jumping goblin captain's skull mid-air.

Bone shrapnel poured down, and the corpse folded like wet parchment.

But the knee buckled exactly as Kael had predicted. He darted across the bent leg, carving a second slice to deepen the thigh wound.

"Hold it!" Kael shouted.

Fenric shot forward as a deafening pop echoed, indicating kinetic energy condensed so densely that the air distorted around his right fist.

The Goblin Commander reacted with a fast speed. Its left hand, gripping a big club, swung sideways.

One undead goblin captain tried to parry the attack, but the club smashed through the weapon and rib, severing the body in half.

Before the swing finished, Kael moved behind the Goblin Commander, sliding between its legs.

His sword pierced into the back of the right ankle, making the goblin stagger.

Fenric seized the moment as he kicked off a broken lamppost, whipping around the goblin's blind side and delivering a series of rapid punches into its ribs—each strike detonating like a muted thunder.

These attacks were probes, preparing for the Heaven-Rending Fist.

The Goblin Commander bellowed, twisting with a fast speed despite its torn leg. It slammed an elbow down, and one undead captain wasn't fortunate as its spine was squeezed.

When the goblin twisted his body, Kael rolled away immediately as he sensed the danger.

Now that they had already gone all out and focused on attacking the Goblin Commander instead of defending themselves, Kael couldn't avoid the casualties, as he didn't have the chance to heal his undead Goblin Captains since they got hit directly and died instantly.

Kael then shouted, "Focus on immobilizing it first!"

They went low, attacking the goblin's legs to restrict its movement. Each time they attacked, the goblin counterattacked and pushed them back, injuring them, but Kael instantly healed them since they weren't hit directly and didn't died instantly.

However, each distraction allowed Kael to rake another line of sword attack across the goblin's body.

An opening was made, exposing two ribs through shattered armor. Kael dove in, thrusting for the heart.

Clang!

The goblin was quick in response as it caught the blade between clawed fingers, stopping the attack. It yanked, throwing Kael into the air as it whipped its arm like a catapult.

Kael's body streaked across the battlefield, slamming into a fountain. The stone exploded, and pain flared up his spine as he could feel a few of his ribs were broken. He then healed himself in an instant before joining the battle again.

The goblin commander grabbed a corpse goblin captain, tossing it at Fenric's charging line of attack. A dead body and a living awakener collided in mid-air, resulting in a screech of metal.

Fenric grunted and pushed the corpse aside, but the momentum break made the Goblin Commander take the opportunity.

The Goblin Commander's club descended on Fenric's head.

Kael flashed to intercept, his sword extended like a lance. The blade and club collided, causing shock waves to split the ground.

Kael's wrists were numb, but he held on long enough for Fenric to retreat. The Goblin Commander hammered a knee into Kael's ribs, causing a few of his ribs to break once again and sending him sliding.

"You owe me one, Fenric!" Kael shouted as he looked at Fenric and healed himself.

"Owe you what? It's you who owes me an explanation about lying with the chance!" Fenric snorted, feeling upset whenever he thought about it.

"Alright then, we're now even and don't owe each other anything." Kael responded with a nod.

"..."

'This shameless bastard! Is this the reason why you spewed such nonsense in this situation?' Fenric was speechless when he looked at Kael's behavior and decided to ignore it first since his life was still on the line with the current situation.
