Chapter 28 - A Reunion

As Kael continued his smooth journey once again, he didn't encounter any monsters until he was about one kilometer from his home.

However, when he saw a lone level-24 kobold and a cluster of low-level kobolds, Kael decided to ignore them as he noticed several people fighting the creatures and clearly at a disadvantage.

What Kael hadn't expected was that, as he strolled past, a voice rang out that almost made him stumble.

"Uncles, Aunties, shut up! You don't understand our situation!" Liora shouted, pointing her little finger at them.

Kael was speechless when he heard it, but he suddenly remembered something and hurriedly went toward his home at full speed, using all of his strength to scan the surroundings while he was at it.

'Please, God. let nothing happen to them.'  Kael prayed, thinking of his parents as he realized that if a level-24 kobold was nearby, stronger monsters might also be close to his house.

Ignoring his little sister's complaint, he released several undead goblins and ordered them to search in the surroundings in case his parents were not at home in this chaotic situation.

When he almost arrived at his home, Kael frowned deeply because he couldn't sense any life or even death energy in his house.

Summoning the rest of his undead goblins, Kael sent them to sweep the surroundings as he headed west.

'I hope they're at Uncle Owen's house.' Kael thought, remembering that Uncle Owen was a retired military veteran.

Uncle Owen also had a son who played Worldbreaker Online, and he wasn't half-bad as Kael recalled that he was close to completing the mission to become a 1st-Echelon Awakener.

In his previous life, right after burying his family, Kael had gone to Uncle Owen's house and discovered they had been on their way to help him after clearing nearby monsters.

When they learned of his family's deaths, they cried and apologized for not arriving sooner to save them.

Naturally, Kael didn't blame them at all about this and felt grateful instead, as they still remembered about his family even in this chaotic situation.

"Brother Kael. Why didn't we go inside the house?" Liora asked worriedly when she watched her brother go past their house instead of going inside.

"Mom and Dad aren't inside, they are probably at Uncle Owen's house." Kael pinched her cheek softly, reassuring her with a soft pat. "Don't worry, Uncle Owen is strong since he is a military veteran. They'll be fine."

Uncle Owen's house wasn't far, about two kilometers away. Kael felt relieved he hadn't seen his parents' bodies among the corpses in the street.

He also noticed that they had likely ridden there since he saw that the bicycle in front of the window was gone.

During the one-hour period where people who logged in inside the game couldn't log out, there were also weird things that happened around the world where they couldn't use any electronic things, weapons, or even vehicles that used fuel, etc.

After a while, Kael finally sensed a group of people were fighting against a group of kobolds in the distance.

A few seconds later…

Sigh!

Kael exhaled deeply, feeling relieved as he saw that his parents were among those people.

"Liora, our parents are right there! They're fine," Kael teared up a little, feeling extremely happy that he could at least have the chance to protect them in this life. Unlike before, when he couldn't even do anything and could only just watch their dead bodies helplessly.

"Really? Where are they?" Liora became excited and looked ahead, squinting her eyes and putting her palms above her eyes cutely.

"You can't see them yet." Kael chuckled and flicked her head softly.

"Liora, close your eyes for a moment. I need to kill the bad monsters attacking Mom and Dad," he said, patting her head.

Liora became worried for a second before nodding her head as she remembered that her brother was extremely strong.

"Hmmm-hmmm, don't forget to kill every one of them," Liora showed a fierce expression, clenching her fist cutely at Kael.

"Of course! Now close your eyes." Kael replied, unsheathing his sword.

Looking at the group of kobolds ahead, Kael's eyes turned ice-cold.

In an instant, Kael severed the level 24 Kobold's head, who was fighting against Luca, Uncle Owen's son.

Kael stopped for a split second as he glanced at his parents' faces, then blitzed through kobolds ranging from levels 15 to 20, cutting them down in a blur.

Luca was shocked when he saw that something fast just went past him and instantly killed the kobold in front of him with a clean cut.

Naturally, the sight of Kael stopping for a split second couldn't escape Luca's eyes.

"It's Kael and Liora!" Luca exclaimed in a shocked expression, feeling disbelief that the person who had just killed the kobold so easily was Kael.

Kael's parents instantly tilted their heads when they heard it. However, they didn't see anything and only noticed that there was someone who killed the Kobolds at an extremely fast speed.

"It's him!" Luca explained that the person who killed the Kobolds was Kael.

At the same time, everyone was shocked when they noticed everyone's wounds were instantly healed in a second.

"You silly boy! It's good that you're safe, but you didn't even greet us after making us worry so much…" Kael's mom cried, feeling relieved when she saw that her children were safe and sound.

"Hey, at least they're okay. Don't make Liora cry too if she sees you crying." Kael's dad petted her hair, trying his best to console her.

"I know," she sniffed, wiping her tears.

A few seconds later, all of the kobolds were dead, and Kael finally appeared in front of the group, looking at his parents with mixed emotions.

Kael tried his best to not cry when he looked at his parents, but tears slid down anyway when he heard his mother's soft voice.

"Kael… Liora…"

Laura, an elegant woman in her late thirties with long white hair, wept harder when she saw her son was crying too, which actually surprised her.

Julian, a middle-aged man in his early 40s with a short beard, smiled bitterly as he looked at Kael, who was in bad shape even though he looked fine.

'He must have been through a lot on his way here.' Julian thought to himself.

"Mom, Dad…" Kael smiled, wiping his tears as he walked towards them slowly.

"Mom, Dad!" Liora cried and opened her arms widely.

Laura and Julian hurried forward at their little princess's call.

"Liora, you didn't give your brother any trouble, did you?" Laura asked, lifting her from Kael's arms and brushing her cheek.

"Don't cry, son. You're already a grown-up." Julian patted Kael's shoulder as he looked at his son, sizing him up from top to bottom.

Before Kael could respond, Liora replied cheerfully. "Of course not! Liora's been a good girl and always does what Brother Kael says."
