Synopsis
power, we all want it, all seek it, in some way, shape, or form or another, doesn't matter if it's strength, political, social, deep down, we all seek that.......control, that.......influence, that.........authority, over our lives, and, sometimes, the lives of others, if you're that kinda person. but, in the same breath, there's also one thing we can't deny, and it's that power, corrupts. it twists and skews, perverts what was once innocent, and turns it into something, well, something else entirely. and, while we might disagree on who is immune to its sweet, seductive whispers, we'll never disagree on the fact that power, in the wrong hands, is dangerous. and that simple statement, is the entire reason this story is happening. that one sentence, brought me to my deathbed, and my rebirth. it turned me from someone hailed as a hero, to someTHING, barely managing to tread the line between good and evil, light and dark, corrupt, and innocent. and, most importantly, it made me realize just how wrong I was, how wrong we all were, when we decided just who's hands classified as, "the wrong ones."

Chapter 1 - introduction

"are you sure you want to do this? there's no going back, you will be like that for eternity, there will be no reincarnation, no normal life, no reward, just....you." the voice in the void asked, it's constantly ever-changing, well, voice, full of concern, doubt.

"if you do this, if I grant your request, everything you know and love will be gone, the world you live in, will not exist, you'll be forced to suffer seeing people you care for walk right passed you as a complete and total stranger, you will belong nowhere, to no one, well, no one except those who bear you." it clarified, again, its tone practically begging me to change my mind.

"I gifted the ability to its current bearer out of her earnest wishes, this request will harm her further." it tried.

but, what it didn't expect, was that I already had an answer to that, as I collapsed beside the very girl in question, bleeding from my missing limbs, panting for breath as I blurrily eyed the crimson red weapon lodged into one half, one side of my lungs.

I kept to myself as I cleared my throat and let out, "she won't, she asked me to tell you, before she died, that she didn't want the power you gave her, she just wanted the pain to stop, if you had instead just altered the source of her pain, my world wouldn't exist anyways." in a decently criticizing tone.

I mean, half the world was dead, 4 billion people just, gone.

far as I was concerned, this thing didn't have much of a leg to stand on.

and I think it knew that.

because it wasn't long after I'd spoken that it sighed, and then gave in.

"alright, I shall grant your request, do you have a bearer in mind?" it relented.

and yeah, I did.

I thought as a person's face flashed across my mind, which, was seemingly enough for the voice, and, before I could voice a name, it said, "I pray you do not repeat the future you wish to change, in a way, his starting point is worse than hers, nevertheless, good luck mortal, or, should I say, former mortal." as a blinding light overtook me, a goodbye of sorts I figured, only for mere moments to pass, and for me to find myself in another void, yet this time, no voice.

and instead.

a floating crimson red screen.

that read as follows.

and, the moment I was done reading it, it changed, it got bigger and bigger, it gained color, and before I knew it, it was a large screen showing me exactly what Jeremy was seeing, hearing, and feeling.

and while I knew Jeremy for years, while I'd heard about his past, experiencing it, well, experiencing it was something else completely, it rivaled, no, it surpassed what she'd gone through.

I fumed, fists clenched, teeth clamped tight, grinding against each other.

I mean, who in the fuck does this to a kid?!

I wanted to shout, and, unexpectedly enough, DID shout, through Jeremy's mouth, in my new voice, the voice of the ability I'd faced dozens of times before in my life.

shocking not only myself, but Jeremy's parents as well, because it didn't stop at my voice, no.

what started with the voice, quickly spiraled into his body instantly being absorbed by a sea of blood that exploded out from inside him, wrapping protectively around every inch before shifting and taking shape, growing, swelling and contracting.

and then, once it was all said and done, becoming, the ability, becoming, the new me.

a seven-foot-tall woman, made of blood, with glowing blue eyes. [see cover]

that towered over his parents, and glared them down with narrowed, dangerous eyes.

my eyes.

my eyes that got to watch as I, faster than they could react, snatched the two by the throats, and hoisted them skywards, rage building in the back my throat.

rage that got spat out, at both of them, in a low, hate filled growl that formed the sentence, "you like picking on defenseless kids, do you? how about you take on someone your own size for once." that, honestly, didn't even really apply, I was alot larger than both of them.

not that I cared.

I simply brushed aside as I spun, and then slammed the two through a nearby wall, instantly knocking them both unconscious as the sounds of wooden studs snapping echoed throughout the entire house.

a sneer on my face as I dropped the two on the other side, uncaring as to how they landed while I turned away from them and began wiping drywall dust and insulation off my arms.

my focus more on that, than it ever was his parents.

"what an inconvenience." I found myself uttering without thinking.

"I got my arms dirty." it continued.

surprising me a lot more than a little.

I mean, here I was, just having assaulted two people, and my instant focus was cleaning my own arms of dirt.

I realized, and then froze, a gripping sensation taking hold of my chest as I waved open the system screen and on it, clicked on species, my heart sinking as I read the following.

()()()()()()()()()()()()()

Species: [Sentient God-Tier Ability]: (in the future named, BloodyMary, this ability invokes a separate entity with volatile, unpredictable emotions and a self-centered, battle-lust, as well as lust in general, nature, since it wasn't sentient before, it's power wasn't focused, and could only be directed at whatever was immediately around it, a bomb so to speak, now that it has gained sentience, the soul used will experience changes to personality, as well as in ways of thinking and behavior, notable changes to ability will be a visible protective, almost paternal behavior towards bearers, [hosts], as well as a more focused use of power, less bomb, more strategic missile more than capable of the same damage yet, on a much more focused, goal oriented scale, those around the ability, as well as the ability itself, should be cautious of uncontrollable reactions to stimuli such as, murderous rage, lust on the level of succubi from hell itself, irritability, anti-social tendencies, and an unwillingness to work with others and an uncaring attitude towards the value of the lives of everyone that isn't it's bearer.)
