The air was cold , almost felt unbreathable to him
"five minutes to the drop zone" a voice announced from the speaker Godwin was nervous it was his first solo mission ever since joining the 141 , a mercenary group that consisted of people from different nationalities. It was small mercenary group that consisted of ten people in total taking odd jobs for some pay or for some action, Godwin of course was in it for the cash he was Nigerian , the pay in the army was poor and working conditions were shit and by sheer luck he landed a new job as a solder but with a mercenary group.
"one minute"
The voice announced again, Godwin took a deep breath stood up checking his gear ensuring everything is secured , his Kris vector which was favorite was perfect for the job . He had everything checked and ready then an alarm blared and the lights turned green the ramp of the cargo plane slowly descended showing the bitch black sky ,he put on his night vision goggles and reached for his his radio on his shoulder
"mission control this is centurion, do you copy?
"Centurion this is mission control we copy all , what's your status?"
"Am still on the plane 40 seconds to jump"
"You still remember your mission objective"
"Hell yeah I do"
"Alright centurion, good luck "
Godwin looked back at the pilots behind him and gave him a signal that he was about to jump and the pilot responded the same hand signal with this Godwin jumped out of the plane and aiming for the landing zone
Godwin's parachute was heavy and almost impossible to carry, he was on the ground landing a few kilometers from his mission are . His objective was simple retrieve any Intel or documents that led to various terrorist attacks that struck multiple countries over the past few months .
Godwin moved quickly in the desert towards the outpost where the terrorist group were said to have stationed themselves, once there Godwin looked around outside there were no guards on the lookout
"too easy"
Godwin thought to himself , and moved on to enter the building searching door to door for anybody or anything but found nothing he almost felt disappointed as he was forward to some action. He reached for his radio and contacted mission control
"mission control this is centurion actual do you copy?"
Centurion this is mission control what's your status?
Building is empty guess the Intel was a burst
Did you find anything in the vicinity
Negative control nothing am heading to the extraction zone now
Godwin said with a heavy sigh but stopped himself as he heard multiple chatters and vehicles closing in on the building , Godwin needed to think fast to get from here if not he's going home in ashes
"shit, control I have multiple tangos closing in on the area I need back up "
Negative centurion back would take an hour to get to you"
That's just great Godwin said to himself
Getting hold of his radio "
Control requesting drone strike on my location
"Say again centurion"
'You heard me just do it am not about to go home in a body bag"
"Alright drone's ETA five minute"
Godwin was little bit relived but there was still panic the enemy was closing in he had to do something he heard voices someone was coming close to the window, he had to make a stand he sterdid his aim of his riffle and aimed at the guy close to the window and fired the first shot,a silent kill at first there was confusion then screams and then gun fire which was aimed at the house Godwin ducked for cover he reached for his grenades and flash bangs he opened them up
"1,2,3..." and threw them both at once
"Granade" one of the terrorist screamed in Arabic. Both the grande and flashbang went off killing five and and injuring those that were close to the blast , Godwin used the opportunity to take out goons ,he had a good,too good that many attributed him to a machine. He dumped the empty mag and popped in a fresh one onto the Kris vector ,he threw another grenade and flash bang and took out the rest in total he killed 20 people Godwin satisfied he thought that they might be more but that wasn't the case and a message came through the radio
"Centurion be advised we've got multiple tangos heading your way, move on the extraction point for pickup over"
"centurion copy's all"
Godwin headed over the extraction zone knowing fully well that the drone would finish off the coming terrorist,to Godwin the mission was a success even if he didn't get what he came for.
