Chapter 34 - At Sea II

(Cyrus's POV)

"Everybody alright?" I asked the crew as they were tossing the pirates' corpses overboard, "I don't see any other ship."

"Alright? Alright?!" the captain said with a scowl, crouching down next to a fallen comrade, "We lost three of our men."

I looked at him, seeing that he had tears in his eyes. I looked as the other men were crouched over the other two men, who had wounds on their stomachs.

I let out a sigh ,"I'm sorry."

"Sorry?!" The captain said, "You're sorry?!"

Torys stepped forward, "Three men is not that much, all things considered." He said, "If it were not for Lord Cyrus, you probably would have lost the whole crew."

The captain stood up and walked up to him, "You got some balls to say something like that to me." He said, "You walked up to me, handed me some coin to take you and your people to Braavos, watch three of my men die, and say some shit!"

"Alright." I said as I walked up to him, "That's enough. Calm down."

"Fuck you!" he said, "What would you do if we decide to throw you imbeciles overboard and leave the woman here!"

"You're angry." Torys said, "But you have to understand-"

"That's enough, Torys." I said as I placed my hand on the captain's shoulder, "You need to calm down, friend. You're grieving. And I understand that. But do not spout nonsense. Say you do throw us overboard, what then? You're going to sail to Braavos with the risk of getting attacked by more pirates? What would you do then? You need us. You need me."

"Oh yea?" He said, "Well, I need you to show some compensation and-"

"Your flames, My Lord." Mira spoke up, "I require your flames."

I looked at her, "Hm?"

She had a slight smile on her face, "I am willing to let those remarks slide." She said, "In exchange for their silence from now on. But allow me to use your flames for something."

I stepped away from the captain, "Alright." I said as I extended my arm forward and sprouted flames, "Like this?"

"Bloody hell...." the captain murmured, "Magic...."

She nodded, "Yes." She said, "Keep the flames like that. They are too potent for me to touch, so just let me....."

She walked over to the bodies of the dead men, cutting off locks of their hair as she had a focused look on her face.

"What are you doing?" the captain asked, "What do you think-"

"Shut up." I told him, "Seriously, just calm down."

Mira walked up to me and placed the hair onto the flames, "Clench your flaming fist, My Lord." She said softly, "And I shall channel your flame's power to perform your miracles."

I clenched my fist, feeling the hair burn away in my flames. Mira placed her hands together in a praying gesture, closing her eyes and chanting under her breath.

I couldn't understand what she was saying, it sounded like a language from this world. I simply narrowed my eyes as she turned around and walked to the center of the deck as her chanting getting louder and louder.

"Hm....." I said

Suddenly, I saw a faint wave of light emit from my hand and float towards the three men who were lying down on the ground, dead. Mira opened her eyes and extended her hands outwards, still chanting in that unknown language.

The light slowly entered their bodies and within a few seconds, their eyes shot open as they gasped for air.

"Ahh!" one of them yell out

"W-what?!" the captain exclaimed, "What the hell!"

Mira lowered her arms as the three men sat up, clutching their closed wounds. She then looked back at me with a slight smile, a satisfied look in her eyes.

My flames slowly disappeared as I lowered my hand, opening it and feeling the ashes of the men's hair fall down to the floor.

She had just used magic to resurrect these men. I do remember her telling me that the Priestesses and Priests were merely mediums to the Lord of Light's power. My flames were the fuel for their miracles, or something like that.

Mira was looking right at me, "Do you see, Lord Cyrus?" she said, "The power of your light?"

I blinked, "Hm...."

"What are you?" the captain looked at me with a shocked expression, "Did you do that?"

Torys nodded, "This is Lord Cyrus." He said, "He is The Lord of Light."

"The Red God...." the captain murmured, "That is impossible.....I knew you lot were the cultists."

"We are no Cult." Mira said, "We are followers of The Lord of Light. In this case, Lord Cyrus is his physical aspect. He represents the Lord's Flames. He is our one true god, Lord Cyrus."

"Mira." I said, "You can do that with my flames?"

"It takes more than just your flames." She said as she walked up to me, "I am but a medium, with access to the arcane, My Lord. The Lord of Light grants us that power, you see, to use the 'flames' to perform miracles like these. But it is quite the complicated process."

There must be some sort of catch to this whole thing; resurrection. And I do plan on learning what. Because that would be too strong, to simply use the "light" of my flames to resurrect people. I don't know what to do with this information, but I do know that it would prove useful to my cause.

To gain a massive following and rise to the top. With a power like mine, I don't plan on fucking around like some imbecile.

"I see....." I said, "Well done."

She smiled, "Thank you, My Lord."

I looked at the Captain, "Just so you know." I told him, "That one was free. But I hear you disrespect my followers again, especially my Priestess. I won't guarantee that I would resurrect any of your men should we get into another battle."

He nodded frantically, "R-Right, I apologize!" He said, "Mercy, My Lord...!!"

He got on his knees, bowing apologetically.

I waved him off, "I don't want any of that." I said,

"Just take us to Braavos."
