Chapter 24 - The Red Priestess II

(Cyrus's POV)

"Ain't you a strange one." I said with a chuckle, "You love me? You don't even know me."

I lowered the intensity of the flames, enough for some of them to sprouting from my body. She was still on her knees, looking at me with pure reverence in her eyes. She was serious about what she said, just like the others.

She thought of me as her god.

"I know many things about you." She said softly, "But not all. Not enough. My Lord, you are the Light that guides us. You are R'hllor."

"No." I said, "I am Cyrus, you will call me that."

"Of course, Lord Cyrus." She said as she prostrated on the ground, "The flames, they spoke to me. This form you take, it is a test for all of us. No. The whole world. There is a reason for this, I know it. There is a reason for this."

I tilted my head, "What reason is that?"

She looked at me, "Lord Cyrus, you are but an aspect." She said softly, "You are R'hllor, but in a way, you are also not him. But regardless, the flames that make up your corporeal form are the proper fuel. Through us, your Priestesses, we can perform the miracles needed to spread the Flames of Guidance throughout Westeros."

I narrowed my eyes, "Is that so?"

"Yes, My Lord. You have showed me this before." She said softly, "You told me a great test was coming. And this is it, My Lord. We will follow you. Whatever it is you desire, we will do it."

"The Snake." I said seriously

"The Snake?" She asked with a confused expression

Torys stepped forwards, "The crimelord of King's Landing." He said, "He has been in hiding after an incident in one of his fighting rings."

"I see." She slowly stood up, "Do you require us to bring him to you?"

"If you really serve me." I said, "I want the Snake. His filth needs to be cleansed."

I raised my had towards my head, feeling a throbbing sensation, as if my brain was starting to hurt. There was something about this whole situation that was causing discomfort. As if there was an even larger conflict within me.

"You will use your flames to cleanse him." She said softly, "Very well. Make no mistake, My Lord. I will serve you well. I will not fail you. I will work on this without fail, worry not. Until then, we must plan accordingly. There is no doubt that the Faith will not react kindly to our presence here. The choice is yours, My Lord, to either stay here in the capital or move towards a much safer location."

I looked at her, "I won't leave until I am done here." I said, "I need to do this. Otherwise I won't be at ease. The streets of this city need to be rid of men like him."

"It will not be easy. I can procure one piece of filth. But in cleansing the entire city, it will cause a clash with the Faith." She said, "And in turn, with House Targaryen. To start a conflict with the Dragonlords is not ideal for us."

"We can do things without starting a war." I told her, "I have made contact with the King. I just....."

I had felt that my flames had disappeared, my body had reverted back to normal. There was something in the back of my head, something that was pounding against the mental walls that was there. For some reason, it was there. I didn't know why.

What the fuck was going on with me?

She walked up to me, "Is there something that bothers you, Lord Cyrus?" She asked, "Your wish is our command. Whatever it is you demand, we will see it through."

I narrowed my eyes, clearly bothered by this, "Tch...."

"Your body, while it is great, filled with your divine power." She said softly, "It is still mortal. Bound by the troubles of men, My Lord. Perhaps it is something you must deal with. A way to free your mind of its restraints. I shall be able to help, just let me."

She placed her hand on my arms, gently rubbing it as she smiled warmly. There was something off about this whole thing. I didn't know why I felt comfortable with her, it was something that bothered me as well.

She was easily convinced that I was her god. I simply showed her the abilities of my Fire Logia and she thought I was a form of her God, R'hllor.

It doesn't matter.

I just want to know what was wrong with me. I wanted to burn that Snake, reduce him to ashes, and I want to figure out what my goal is.

If I do all of that, I will be at peace.

But for now, this shit was pissing me off.

"What is the way to do that?" I asked

"To release your mental restraints?" She patted my cheek, "It is quite simple."

"Are you this comfortable with others?" I asked with a frown

"Only with whom I truly love." She said with a smile, "My Lord of Light, the one who guided me into a better life. The one that saved me, the one who made everything brighter in my life. We Red Priestesses, have different reasons for following you. And mine is to be yours, forever until I am part of your being, fused into your flames, My Lord."

I grabbed her hand, "Let's go and have a chat with the King." I said seriously as I moved it away, "To avoid conflict while we find the Snake and burn him, we must give him a warning. And the Faith, or whatever they're called, we should tell them to stay out of our way."

"Oh my." She said, "If that's what you want, then so be it."

"In the meantime." I said, "You will tell me everything you all know. The Targaryens, the Realm, our potential enemies. Everything."

"Understood." She said with a smile, "I will tell you all that I know. But I warn you, My Lord. We are not at full strength in Westeros, your followers. If we antagonize the Fait-"

"You have nothing to worry about. Not from them." I said with a serious expression, "There won't be a conflict. Even if there were one."

"We will be fine."
