"What do you want, Vera? If you're not willing to give complete information, why contact me?"
"Marcus, it's complicated. I have to be a little discreet for my safety." Vera argued
"Then let your discretion help you. I'm done here." Marcus said while leaving.
"Okay, what do you want to know?" Vera asked.
"How does he know?" Marcus demanded. "How does he always know everything we're planning?"
"Because he knows everything," Vera said with resignation. "He has resources you can't imagine and people everywhere in positions you'd never suspect. I've been as careful as I can be, but I'm sure he's been tracking my movements and communications."
As if the universe wanted to prove her point, Marcus's earpiece crackled to life with Viktor's voice coming through clearly.
"Marcus, we have a problem developing. Three vehicles just pulled up near the High Line's northern entrance. Men are getting out, and they're armed. Moving toward your general location with purpose."
