"Couldn't sleep either?" James asked as he poured two cups.
"Slept a little," Marcus said as he accepted the cup. "You?"
"No," James admitted, and dark circles under his eyes testified to his exhaustion. He handed Marcus one of the cups and kept the other for himself. "I keep thinking about this legacy project that Richard mentioned. What could require that long years of planning and billions of dollars, and a global criminal network?"
Marcus sipped the bitter coffee and let the heat of it ground him in the present moment. "I don't know. But we'll find out eventually. If Vera's telling the truth about this new information, we'll get our answer soon."
"If Vera's telling the truth," James said, and his tone held skepticism. "She could be leading you into a trap or feeding you disinformation to protect herself or someone else in the network."
