Chapter 5 - Wait...That name does ring a bell...no?

Flaytus, Augustus Filius-The stepson of emperor Agustus was born on March 14, 1005, CE Growing up under the watchful eyes of his stepfather the emperor-The servants of the emperor made sure he was taught everything-From sword fighting to Math, he was taught to be an well-obedient son and servant of the emperor-He was said to have born in Ruthenia-His mother had abandoned him-The place guards found a crying boy under dawn-And that's when he was brought to the capital, Byzantium (Constantinople-Present Istanbul) The emperor was said to have taken mercy at him and to make him remain in his palace and adopted him-As he lacked a son-and was mostly focused on the empire's affairs.

He grew up to be a vigilant son-Women of the capital wanted him-Men wanted to be alike him. It didn't help that how his broad shoulders and muscular build made him stand out from other men-And his piercing hazel eyes, and the deep-set eyebrows-Furrowing when he didn't get what he wanted. Unlike other men, Flaytus wasn't fond of the unnecessary attention that seemed to be dragging him-He avoided women like plague and only talked to them when necessary. He-like his father-Was only found of political affairs and didn't really spare time for martial matters. Flaytus grew up to be close to the emperor-As he had shared things that were permissible to be heard by only few of the emperors' confidents.

"His duty was to serve the emperor-Even if that meant to give him his life"

Pov of Flaytus: Elen... Elen...nor? His voice came out softer than expected as he ran a hand through his hair-Eleanor, a name that he dreaded to forget-Ha ha! Catch me if you can! Eleanor's giggling rang out as Flaytus chased for her--His breathing ragged. Then-He stopped and spotted her flowy dress from behind a tree-His lips twitched into a soft smile-Then he turned around-Acting as if he didn't see her.

His gaze on the sky, smiling, teasing, waiting for her to emerge from behind-And she did. The soft rustle of the grass made his body tense as he suppressed his urge to laugh out loud. Then two pairs of hands clutched at his shoulders, got you! her voice came out. He glanced at her, his lips still curled, I lost... he murmured, sighing dramatically. They both stared at each other, tiny hands, fitting each other like a solved puzzle. This was their life-Until that dreadful day-How he was taken away by some unknown bandit to his way home and how he was left to die-Until the Emperor's guards found him. He clenched his fists as his jaw ticked-The past is over-the memories have slipped from his mind like sand from his fingers.

His hazel gaze met the moon--His vision was clouded with doubts-As he gazed at it-Breathing in. Just then-A low voice craped with obedience: Master Flaytus... He turned to his left-There was one of his men-His hands clutching at what seemed to be a letter. He then continued, this has come from the emperor-He said handing it to him.

Flaytus quickly opened it-His eyes skimmed through it--Flaytus, my son, I have given this duty of bringing the war spoils and slaves to you, I hope to hear from your return. Flaytus smiled proudly then he continued, your teachers have praised you on your academics and your obedience and your courage in the battlefield. So, I now grant you the option to do what seems to please you with the slaves. Flaytus's smile grew, His hands clenched-as he then rolled up the letter and quickly tucked it away in his pocket.

He then glanced to the soldier-His voice steady-yet still breaking, H-Has she woken up? he asked, his voice low as if that might gain attraction from others. The guard didn't raise his head-only a shake of his head.

His smile seemed to waver as he then quickly went in-His steps slow, as he then abruptly came to a stop-There she was-Her eyes shut as sleep seemed to be kissing her forehead. Her breath came hollow, as she seemed beyond broken.

What happened to you? Flaytus's gaze faltered, he then reached out for her hands, clasping it-Shutting his eyes-He sat like that for a bit, and he too laid on the floor-His gaze still on her--Though sleep seemed to be winning as his eyelids then closed.

Filling in the silence with their breaths-The ship seemed to move, gently, though from time to time it was rocked by the tides.

Hey y'all, Aysha here! So, I really want to share with somethings-So, Firstly, in the next episode I will make the characters talk more for themselves as I as the Author seemed to be talking a lot-Lol-Secondly, I will update on Aurthur and maybe will change his name into something else-As the name Aurthur is of English or Celtic origin-And not Byzantium, or Latin. (Sorry*)

Anyways...That's all, I'm going to bed! See you, have a good day or night!
