Chapter 9 - Kamen Rider

After spending her remaining points on Destruction Path power (with modest gains), Firefly realizes it's late and she needs a place to stay. She heads to a hotel—only to discover she has no money.

In her original world, she lived cash-free thanks to mobile payments and financial independence. But here, she's broke.

She turns to her companion:

"Herta, go make some money."

The doll, ever literal, scans the area, spots a bank, and conjures a massive crystal hammer.

"Making money… Bank has money."

Firefly panics and stops her just in time.

"Legally! Not robbing!"

"Legally? Can't do that."

Herta crosses her arms, unapologetic. She has no tools, no credentials, and no time—it's either rob or nothing.

Resigned, Firefly finds a small garden with a sheltered bench and decides to sleep there. She cuddles up with the Herta doll for warmth.

The night passes quietly. Thanks to Herta's vigilance (she doesn't sleep), Firefly rests safely.

Chapter 15: The Runaway Heiress, Again

Morning arrives with a chill wind. Firefly wakes up groggy and sore, grateful for Herta's presence.

As people begin to pass by, many notice the two girls—especially their beauty. Some assume they're runaways, possibly part of a troubling trend known as "God-waiting girls".

What is a "God-waiting girl"? Originated post-economic collapse in Japan. Refers to girls who run away from home and seek shelter from strangers—usually men—via online posts. They call these men "gods" for offering food and lodging. The lifestyle is dangerous and often exploited.

Firefly's situation mirrors this superficially, though she's far from helpless. Still, her appearance draws attention.

Soon, a middle-aged man approaches with a "friendly" offer: come stay at his house.

Firefly declines coldly.

But more men follow, some polite, others pushy. One tries to get physical—until Herta knocks him out with a punch and loots his wallet.

"Only 7000 yen? Pathetic."

Cash is still king in this world, unlike Firefly's previous life of digital convenience.

By afternoon, it's raining. Firefly sits alone under a ledge, nibbling on a piece of bread, looking pitiful but composed.

She's powerful, but the world doesn't care. She's still a stranger, broke, and misunderstood.
