Chapter 2 - The Path to Heaven

Colt never cared for these social functions. To him, it was just a preparty. Pack politics and gossip never interested him. He was more into being a warrior than a politician. Any problems that need solved can be solved with his fist.

Growing up the son of an Alpha came with the typical expectations. His schedule was packed with weight training, education, combat training and any other lessons his father had in mind. Of course these stupid events that his parents made him attend were included. His father called it networking but Colt knew it was a load of shit.

These events were for a show. An annoying show. Enchantments built into walls of the Pack Ten so it was common knowledge that Alphas can't exert their aura onto others, because before the Pack Ten was built alcohol and auras were known to start wars.A bunch of grown ass men acting like toddlers tested Colts patience because any issues can be solved with common sense.

The bottom line is that these old geezers were just of power hungry baffoons. Colt didn't care about power, he cared about the pack. What's the good of power of you didn't have the support of the pack? In his opinion, the pack deserved an Alpha who cares about the safety, health, and happiness and not an Alpha who only cares about showing off wealth and status.

His father was an idiot. Alpha George loved to coach other Alphas about maintaining their packs and showing off his wealth. He made himself seem important and his arrogance fueled is ego. Honestly most Alphas brushed Alpha George off because his concerns had nothing to do with them. No one cares that a pack in Canada was fueding with a pack in Connecticut. That's across the country and it doesn't impact their packs in any way.

Alpha George had no discretion in cheating on his mother. Often the girls who flung themselves at him were introduced to his father which benefited Colt. He would get a nice slap on the back and a thanks for being his wing man.

It was seriously disgusting. However Colt found a way to take advantage of the situation. He God rid of the stage 5 clingers and his dad got some action and thanked him for it.

Luna Vivian was Colts mother. He absolutely detested her. She was just as arrogant as Alpha George just add a dash of flippancy with a sprinkle of air headedness. The perfect self absorbed narcissistic couple.

Luna Vivian was a notorious gossip, causing discord in her own pack. Who the fuck does that?! Colt had a hard time not flying off the handle on her. A true Luna would never destroy the members of the pack with gossip and hurt. She even had her own group that she called The Whisps. Essentially they were her spies who would be sent out to gather information on pack members. Information that could be damning.

The Whisps would meet at the pack house about once a week for a "Tea Party" where The Whisps would "spill the tea" on other pack members. It turned Colts stomach thinking about all the damage they have done.

By the time Colt was 16 he rarely stayed at the pack house. He would do weight and combat training and he essentially stayed in the barracks. It had all the amenities he needed and the bonus he convinced his two best friends, twin brothers Charlie and Isaac to move into the barracks with him. His father was so dense he openly praised the trio for dedication to the pack.

Charlie and Isaac were the only thing keeping him sane in this pack heirarchy of shit. They never let each off the hook. To Colt they were more than his best friends, they were his Betas. They promised to each other that they would have each other's back no matter what. The pack came first, their friendship second. Women last.

Girls were always throwing themselves at Colt, Charlie, and Isaac. All three of them were extremely attractive physically but it was obviously that these women were only after money and status. All three guys made a promise of no sex before they found their mate. Pass the girls off to Alphas and Betas, let them think that they can gain better favor than they could.

Colt tapped the bar to get the bartenders attention. "Three scotch on the rocks". The bartender nodded and started the drinks. Charlie and Isaac should be here in a minute. Colt had to admit this little party was actually kind of cool. A little over the top, but that's typical for these types of things. He only showed up to these so his dad would stay off his case and free liquor.

"Hey man!" A grin spread across his face as he heard Charlie's voice. "Hey, pup!". Colt had no issues getting Charlie's nerves. " You might not wanna do that" Isaac said as he accepted his drink. Colt cocked an eyebrow at Isaac. "Olivia" Isaac grimaced.

Olivia Hargreaves. Princess of the Cresent Creek pack. Spoiled, entitled, and annoying as hell. That girl...the opportunist of his generation. There isn't a man with some sort of power within their circle that she hasn't tried to latch onto. The daughter of an Alpha she did not inherit any aura. She tried to keep it a secret, but everyone knew. Somehow even The Whisps found out about it. Charlie was her newest target. The son of a Beta made him the next best thing since no son of an Alpha wanted her.

Colt used his mind link with Charlie and Isaac, " Come on guys, maybe we can come up with a plan. Like we should introduce her to daughters of Alphas. A bitch for a bitch" At that moment all three of them burst out laughing. Then tension dissipated and was replaced with comradarie.

The scent of lime and verbana slammed into his senses disrupting his senses and his wolf growled. "Mate".

"Where?! Who?!" Colt started to panic," play it cool dude calm yourself and focus" he told himself.. Colt closed his eyes and followed the scent. His eyes met the green eyed beauty and smirked. "Mine".

The gorgeous girl with long auburn hair abruptly stood up and bolted through the French doors. Panic spread through Colt "no,no,no don't run!" He thought as his wolf growled. "Guys!" He turned toward his buddies. "Gotta go after my mate!"

Colt didn't even bother looking back to see their faces in shock. " Duuuude, you found your mate?" Charlie said through the mind link. "Is that so hard to believe?" Colt snapped back before closing the link.

Colt made his way to the French doors and out into the garden. The garden was large with large rose bushes adorned with fairy lights creating a magical scene. Colt closed his eyes and concentrated of the intoxicating scent of his mate.

He briskly walked through the garden searching for her. Through the vast garden, Colt was getting more and more frustrated as he couldn't find that beautiful girl. He had to find her, that was his other half, his soul wouldn't be complete without her. He can't give up, despair was tugging at his heart strings. Then he saw it, A white silvery light coming from the forest.

Colt dashed toward the light and he stopped dead when he saw her. His Angel was hovering about six feet off the ground. Ribbons of silver light danced across her body. He watched in awe as a shimmering silver ribbon wrapped around her legs then another around her left arm, then another arm. It was those most amazing thing that he had ever seen. He was pretty sure that no one else had ever witnessed this either.

"Whoa"
