Yuri replied, "I told you one awakened and 2 humans can't survive a place like this.". Rin said, "We survived, see." Sam spoke, "I am not going down."
Sam asked, "Yuri, how to awaken?"
Yuri, with a confused look, asked, "Did they not teach you in the academy?"
Rin surprisingly revealed a smile.
Yuri was shocked, because never shown emotion before. Sam laughed and said, "Ha ha, I never listen to my classes." Sam explained, "Rin smiled, because we had bet and I lost." Sam continued, "Rin said one day I will regret not listening to class, and today is that day."
Yuri scoffed, "I only know four ways to awaken."
"First, by using an awakened crystal provided by the government, which is only given to the top ten students of the academy.
Second, natural awakening is done by killing monsters. You will absorb the Soulus of the beasts, which unlocks the awakening.
Third, dread mountains have a large density of Soulus shattered in the surrounding. By absorbing it, you can awaken, but it takes at least a month, if not longer.
Fourth, sudden awakening, I don't know much about this."
Rin said, " ok, let's try the second method to awaken." Yuri sighed, "Why the hell am I helping my target awaken?" Rin asked, "How much do you know of dread mountains?".
Yuri replied, "I only know a little."
Yuri replied, "I am just a grade 3, so I only know a little."
Yuri continued, "The dread mountain was filled with spikes and some cursed trees that eat flesh. After that, some holes lead to the underground areas, where powerful creatures reside. These holes only appear at night, and they target living beings to suck into the underground, and trees come to life as well, so we can't rest in trees at night."
Yuri said, "That's all, I know."
Sam asked, "What do we do now?"
Rin said, "Let's begin our hunt for monsters and find a shelter to rest at night."
The monster with six hands was still below the tree, waiting for them.
Rin spoke, "The monster might be strong, but they are brainless, unlike humans."
The three of them planned a way to kill the monster. Suddenly, a figure jumped down from the tree and landed on the ground. The creature noticed and slashed its blade-like hand into the figure, tearing through it.
From behind, two figures appeared: Sam and Rin were behind the monster, ready to attack.
Sam used his dagger to pierce the skin of the monster, and Rin used a sharply carved branch and wound the leg of the monster. The monster screamed out loud in pain.
