Ruby's POV
So this stunning woman standing before me was Elias's ex-wife.
The one who still held pieces of his heart.
My mind went completely blank. I found myself staring at her like an idiot before managing to croak out, "How do you even know who I am?"
"Darling, the entire country knows who you are now, especially after that broadcast last night." Her laugh was like silver bells. "The reporter wasn't exaggerating. You truly were the most envied woman alive in that moment. Mind if I come in?"
She didn't bother waiting for permission. The door clicked shut behind her as she glided into my room.
"I brought these for you. Hoping for a speedy recovery."
She placed a bouquet of pristine white tulips on my bedside table with practiced grace. "You do love tulips, don't you?"
"I suppose they're nice enough," I managed to whisper. Truth was, I'd always been drawn to roses. But something about her confident assumption left me speechless.
