Chapter 34 - Ascending to Stop the Thunder

"Among warriors, strength is respected," the old Master said seriously."You may call yourself Shiao Immortal—but never trust the enemy so easily. There may be deception."

Shiao's mouth twitched.

This old man was even older than his father, yet he wanted to call him Immortal?Truly strange.

"It's fine," Shiao said casually, patting his chest with confidence."I'm very powerful. I'm not afraid of him at all."

He didn't take the warning seriously in the slightest.

A small black head poked out from inside Shiao's clothes.Little Hei scanned the surroundings with its round eyes. Seeing no immediate danger, it decided there was no need for Big Brother Dog to take action.

Satisfied, it retracted its head and promptly fell asleep again.

Shiao stepped forward, ready to follow Austin toward the base.

Suddenly—

Whoosh!

A signal flare shot into the sky in the distance.

The moment the flare bloomed, all enemy soldiers panicked. They immediately turned and fled in disorder, retreating as fast as they could.

The three superhumans stiffened. After exchanging glances, they split up and escaped in different directions.

The Chinese soldiers stared in confusion.

Why were the enemy troops retreating so suddenly?

Before anyone could figure it out—

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Several gigantic missiles rose into the sky from afar.

Just by their size alone, anyone could tell how terrifying their power was.

Shuai Hua cursed loudly, cold sweat pouring down his face.

"It's Thunder-14 missiles!""Damn it—this is their hidden trump card!"

Without hesitation, he grabbed the radio and roared orders:

"Anti-aircraft department, launch interception missiles immediately!""Ground forces, retreat! Evacuate the attack zone—now!"

Orders spread instantly.

The anti-aircraft department locked onto the missiles' trajectories, launching interception rounds at the same time the Chinese soldiers withdrew in haste.

Dozens of interception missiles streaked across the sky.

Soon, only Shiao and a few Masters remained on the front line.

A Master shouted anxiously,"Hurry! This kind of missile cannot be resisted by human strength!""Immortal—retreat quickly!"

The four Masters exchanged glances and retreated at once.

Shiao frowned, looking around in confusion.

"Is that thing really that scary?" he muttered."And didn't that guy say he'd take me to find my sister? Why did he run away?"

Realizing something was wrong, Shiao slapped his forehead.

He stepped onto his flying sword and shot forward, chasing after Austin.

The others had nothing to do with him, so he didn't bother worrying about them.

Austin, fleeing desperately, suddenly stiffened.

His entire body froze in mid-step—like an ice sculpture.

A white-robed figure descended from the sky on a sword, appearing instantly in front of him.

With one hand, Shiao restrained Austin's movements using spiritual power.

"S-Sir! Please spare me!" Austin wailed."I still have a 108-year-old mother and thirty-two children at home! What will happen to them if I die?!"

He squeezed out tears and pleaded miserably.

To his surprise, the pressure vanished.

Shiao looked at him sympathetically and said softly,"You're really pitiful… having thirty-two children and such an old mother."

Austin nearly choked.

"If you take me to find General Sher," Shiao continued, "I'll let you go."

Austin stared in disbelief.

None of this made sense—but how could he dare refuse?

"Y-Yes, sir. Please follow me!"

He immediately turned and ran ahead.

"Wait."

Shiao's voice suddenly deepened.

He looked solemnly toward the sky.

At a distance of one kilometer above the ground, interception missiles collided with several Thunder-14 missiles.Explosions rippled outward, shockwaves stretching hundreds of meters as thick smoke rolled through the sky.

Then—

Swish!

From the smoke, a massive missile burst forth—faster and more terrifying than the Thunder-14s.

Shuai Hua, observing through a telescope, felt his heart sink.

"R-15…"

This was the true trump card of the E Army.

"Emergency launch tracking interception missiles!" Shuai Hua shouted hoarsely into the intercom.

Dozens of tracking missiles rushed toward the R-15.

Just as they were about to intercept it—

Under countless stunned gazes, the tail of the R-15 detached.

The missile suddenly accelerated, evading the encirclement with terrifying agility.

Its trajectory changed.

It wasn't targeting the battlefield.

It was heading straight toward the border base.

At that moment, every Chinese soldier turned pale.

On the ground, Shiao sensed the direction instantly.

His eyes widened.

"That thing… it's going toward Father."

Without hesitation, he stepped onto his flying sword and soared into the sky.

"It's over…""If the Thunder-14 is already this strong, won't an R-15 flatten the entire base?"

"The interception missiles are useless…"

Fear gripped everyone as the missile drew closer.

"Look!""What's that white light?"

"Why does it look like… a person?"

"Damn— isn't that the Immortal from earlier?!"

"What is he trying to do?!"

Little Hei was jolted awake by the violent airflow. It poked its head out and immediately barked in terror.

It didn't know when its young master had already flown to a height of over a kilometer—and was still ascending.

Little Hei trembled in Shiao's arms.

If it had known this would happen, it would never have followed along.

If they fell from this height, it would definitely become dog food.

The missile closed in rapidly.

Air-defense alarms blared throughout the base.

Chaos erupted as soldiers scattered and fled.

And high above the battlefield—

A white-robed figure ascended alone toward the approaching apocalypse.
