Chapter 5 - Zhao Kongcheng was tricked

Zhao Kongcheng stood by the roadside, a cigarette dangling from his lips, contemplating life. After a long while, a familiar voice pulled him out of his daze.

"Old Zhao, where's that Seraphim Agent?"

"Seraphim Agent? Isn't he... isn't he... huh? Where is he?" Zhao Kongcheng looked around blankly. But Lin Qiye was nowhere to be seen.

"Didn't that kid say he was going back to pick up his backpack? Why did he run off?" Zhao Kongcheng looked at his teammates with a confused and disbelieving expression.

The members of Team 136 who had rushed over now understood what had just happened. Wen Qimo let out a giggle but then, as if remembering something, quickly covered his mouth with both hands.

Wu Xiangnan sighed helplessly, looking at his unreliable teammate: "It's fine, Old Zhao. First, we need to make sure he isn't found by the Ancient God Church. As for him joining the Night Watcher, I'll talk to him about it when I have time."

Suddenly, Zhao Kongcheng's gaze towards Wu Xiangnan became firm: "No, Vice Captain Wu, I'll go talk to him. I have to earn back my dignity."

He's wearing the No. 2 Middle School uniform; I don't believe I can't stake him out." As he spoke, a confident smile played on Zhao Kongcheng's lips, as if he already had Lin Qiye firmly in his grasp.

"Uh, alright." Wu Xiangnan felt it was a bit unreliable to send Zhao Kongcheng, who had just been tricked, to recruit Lin Qiye. However, out of trust for his teammate, he still assigned the task to Zhao Kongcheng. To be safe, Wu Xiangnan still asked:

"Do you need me to go with you?"

Zhao Kongcheng confidently patted Wu Xiangnan's shoulder: "Don't worry, Vice Captain Wu, I'll definitely bring him back to you, even if I have to tie him up.

I'll go back tonight and prepare well." As he spoke, he stretched, and as he looked up, he happened to see a hand holding a phone retract, followed by two strands of white hair flicking past the edge of the roof.

Meanwhile, Furina, on the rooftop, looked at the photos she had taken and exclaimed in wonder: "As expected of me."

In the photo, Zhao Kongcheng held a knife in one hand and waved at Lin Qiye with the other, while Lin Qiye, with his back to Zhao Kongcheng, walked back along the path he had just run from. A golden crack in the very center of the photo perfectly divided it into two parts.

"It's about time to go. It would be troublesome if the logistics personnel who come to clean up the battlefield discover me." Furina muttered to herself as she tossed her phone into the Serenitea Pot. As she left the rooftop, she had a nagging feeling that she had forgotten something.

She thought for a while but couldn't recall, eventually shaking her head and pushing the matter aside. If she couldn't remember, it wasn't important. If it wasn't important, why bother thinking about it? Was there anything more important than having a late-night snack right now?

...The moment he saw someone above, Zhao Kongcheng's eyes instantly glazed over. He rubbed his eyes in disbelief and looked up again.

However, there was nothing there this time, but Zhao Kongcheng was certain that someone had indeed been there just now, not only witnessing everything that had just happened but also recording it all.

In a panic, he chose to quickly report the situation to Wu Xiangnan: "Vice Captain Wu, I just saw someone on the roof. And that person on the roof was holding a phone; if I'm not mistaken, everything that just happened was recorded by her."

Upon hearing this, Wu Xiangnan subconsciously retorted: "How is that possible? Normal people, when they see a Ghost-faced Man, either scream or run away quickly. How could someone take out a phone and record it? Moreover, a Seraphim Agent just manifested here; the commotion would have made ordinary people faint long ago."

Although he said that, Wu Xiangnan still asked Leng Xuan to go up and check the situation.

Just then, Wen Qimo's voice came through the earpiece: "Report, Vice Captain Wu, there are four ordinary people trapped in a transparent cage ahead. I can't break it. But based on observation and what those four ordinary people said, this cage is made of water."

Hearing this, Wu Xiangnan frowned. After exchanging a glance with Zhao Kongcheng beside him, he quickly ran over: "You stand there, don't move. I'll be there right away."

"Yes!"

Could it be that what Old Zhao saw just now wasn't an illusion? Was there really someone on the rooftop taking pictures? What was her purpose? A series of absurd yet reasonable questions surfaced in Wu Xiangnan's mind.

When he arrived, he saw four students sitting on the ground, seemingly leaning against the air. But only by looking closely could one see transparent water threads encircling the four people on the ground. Wen Qimo stood by, stroking his chin, his eyes gleaming as he examined the transparent prison.

The latter, seeing Wu Xiangnan, raised his hand and waved: "Vice Captain Wu, you're here. After my confirmation, this thing is indeed water."

Wu Xiangnan, after hearing Wen Qimo's analysis, still unsure, reached out to touch it. Cool and slippery—it was indeed water. Who could wield water to such an extent? Could it be... At this moment, Wu Xiangnan remembered Zhao Kongcheng's earlier words: "Vice Captain Wu, I saw someone on the rooftop."

Thinking of this, Wu Xiangnan immediately contacted Leng Xuan, who was going upstairs, via his earpiece: "Leng Xuan, have you reached the rooftop?"

Soon, Leng Xuan's voice came through the earpiece: "Report, I've arrived. There's no one on the rooftop, but there are traces of someone having been there.

Old Zhao, tell me honestly, what exactly did you see?"

Zhao Kongcheng scratched his head: "I didn't see much, just a hand holding a phone and two strands of long white hair flashing past the edge of the roof."

"Then there's no problem. There are a few strands of white hair on the rooftop. I suppose they must have been left by that Mystery person. Also, I found some water stains on the rooftop. I imagine those two water cages must also be her handiwork."

"From her attitude, she shouldn't be a member of the Ancient God Church. She possesses extremely strong hydrokinetic abilities. Currently, it seems she is on our side." Wu Xiangnan analyzed for a moment, then said: "We can try to recruit her. I've never heard of a Forbidden Relic with hydrokinetic abilities. However, recruiting the Seraphim Agent Lin Qiye is still a higher priority."

"Yes!"

...Meanwhile, in a dessert shop, Furina, realizing her elemental power was continuously draining, finally remembered what she had forgotten. She had forgotten to release the two cages protecting her classmates.

"Uh, no big deal. It's not too late to release them now. Anyway, they don't know who I am."

After Furina cut off the elemental power transmission, the two cages instantly turned into ordinary water, drenching the people inside.

Wu Xiangnan and Wen Qimo, who were discussing how to rescue the four, heard the 'splash' of water and then saw four soaking wet people lying on the ground, having lost their balance.

Wen Qimo: ...So, all those slashes I made were for nothing, right?
