Chapter 8 - First Day at Work

Inaho and Tekka thought Satoshi was a hothead.

The only reason he wanted to join the Police Force was simply because he saw how frustrated they both were, and he wanted to help them vent their anger.

But joining the Police Force now would simply ruin his future.

No matter how much they tried to persuade him, Satoshi refused to give up. He insisted on joining the Police Force to see the world.

As for how much money he'd make, it didn't matter. As long as he got fed, it was fine.

At this point, Tekka and Inaho had nothing more to say.

They told him to report to the Police Force tomorrow, and he'd be paid for each day he worked.

As for how many days he could last...

Never mind, just letting him know how deep the waters were here would be enough.

With this little interlude, the sake in their cups suddenly tasted exceptionally bitter.

They hastily cleaned up the battlefield, threw a wad of cash at the boss, and left the BBQ restaurant.

The boss counted the money and said, "You gave too much."

Then, Satoshi shamelessly sidled over. "With the remaining money, I want the best quality beef, packed to go."

When Satoshi walked out with the box, the Root members in the shadows widened their eyes.

"Torune-sama, he's out."

Torune stiffened, staring intently at Satoshi, who was strolling down the street. Then he watched him walk into the Uchiha clan's compound gate.

"Bastard! This damn bastard!"

Torune felt like he wanted to kill Satoshi.

You like Naruto so much, why don't you go to his house then?!

If you don't go, we'll have to take turns watching you twenty-four hours a day.

"Sigh." Ryoma waved his hand. "Notify the second squad to switch shifts."

After Satoshi entered the compound, he couldn't help but let out bursts of wild laughter.

"Hahahahaha!"

You like to follow me?

I'll exhaust you all.

The next morning, at the Police Force.

Satoshi quickly completed the onboarding process.

When the members of the Police Force learned that the clan's genius had joined, they were all dumbfounded, not knowing what to say.

"The genius who defeated Itachi actually joined the Police Force?"

"How foolish, this is simply ruining his future."

The Konoha Military Police Force had no welcome ceremony, nor any decent onboarding gift package.

All Satoshi received was a set of not-so-good standard uniform and a copy of "Police Force Employee Handbook and Job Description."

He picked up the handbook and flipped through it for a long time, finally finding the job function he needed.

"Patrol within Konoha territory to ensure the village's safety from harm."

Inaho patted Satoshi's shoulder and said, "Today, you can look around. Tomorrow, I'll officially assign you work."

"Okay."

Satoshi responded and then left the Police Force, whistling.

Watching Satoshi's receding back, the Uchiha clan members couldn't help but sigh silently.

Oh, he'll probably be cursing up a storm when he gets back tonight.

Meanwhile, Satoshi had already swaggered into the bustling downtown area.

Just as Inaho and the others had said, many villagers' expressions changed when they saw his uniform.

The small vendor who sold him dango yesterday, upon seeing his Police Force uniform, decisively hung up a "Sold Out" wooden sign.

Even the young woman who had cheered him on from the stands earlier had a complicated expression. She had finally mustered up the courage to go say hello, but was pulled back by a friend at her side.

"Are you crazy? That's the Police Force, they kill without batting an eye."

Satoshi: ...

He couldn't be bothered with them. He went to the back mountain and found a corner to rest.

Since Naruto hadn't been to the ramen shop recently, he should be in the back mountain, mushroom hunting or fishing, or something similar.

Sure enough, after the sun set, a small blonde figure gradually appeared in Satoshi's sight.

Naruto didn't know how to live properly and often faced the problem of hunger.

Even though he had met Satoshi who treated him to ramen last time, he was too embarrassed to just freeload all the time.

So he took his fishing rod to the river, thinking that if he could catch a few big fish, he would find a way to give them to Satoshi to make soup.

He chose his favorite spot, and with a swish, he cast his hook into the river.

The next thing to do was to wait.

Satoshi, seeing this from not far away, felt it was a good opportunity to approach Naruto, so he slowly moved over.

Suddenly, he felt a chill. A sharp kunai grazed his ear and embedded itself in the tree trunk, incidentally shaving off a lock of his hair.

"Satoshi, step back." Kakashi emerged from the shadows.

Satoshi's brow furrowed slightly. "So it's the famous Copy ninja, Kakashi-senpai."

Kakashi paused for a moment, then returned to his usual demeanor.

"Can the Uchiha's Sharingan really see through masks?"

Satoshi had a helpless expression and asked, "Besides you and me, who else in all of Konoha is a white-haired ninja?"

Kakashi suddenly felt that Anbu's disguise methods needed to be strengthened.

"Satoshi, why are you approaching Naruto repeatedly?"

Satoshi spread his hands, explaining straightforwardly, "I merely treated a poor orphan to a bowl of ramen, and now I'm being accused of having ulterior motives?"

"Then what about today?" Kakashi took a step forward. "Surely you didn't come specifically to fish with him."

Satoshi suddenly chuckled, pointing to the Police Force badge on his uniform.

"As a member of the Police Force, it's perfectly normal for me to patrol around, isn't it?"

Theoretically, Satoshi's explanation was flawless.

Even if the other party was one of the "evil Uchiha" in some people's mouths, Kakashi had no prejudice. After all, he once had a dear friend who, like Satoshi, was warm-hearted.

Just as Kakashi was contemplating whether to take Satoshi back to Anbu, Satoshi suddenly reached into his backpack with his right hand.

Kakashi's pupils instantly constricted, and his right hand instinctively pulled out a kunai, fiercely thrusting it at Satoshi.

Clang!

A blade accurately blocked the kunai's attack.

"So fast!"

Kakashi, beneath his mask, was quite surprised.

How did Satoshi manage to easily block his kunai without any preparation?

Kakashi's inner evaluation of Satoshi had completely changed.

A genius youth who would surpass him in the future.

And at this moment, a book fell out of Satoshi's backpack.

When Kakashi saw the familiar cover, he almost had a nosebleed.

Icha Icha Paradise: Uncensored Edition.

Even more impressive, it also had Jiraiya's personal signature.

"Where did you get this book?" Kakashi's voice trembled slightly.

This was the rarest version, already selling for dozens of times its price on the black market. Even so, it was still incredibly hard to find.

"Want to read it for a few days?"

"According to Anbu rules, I cannot accept gifts from villagers."

Upon hearing this, Satoshi suddenly raised his hand and pointed at Kakashi's left eye.

"You've already accepted the most important gift from our Uchiha clan, so why bother with just one book?"

Kakashi's head buzzed as he asked, "What do you mean by that?"

He knew the gift Satoshi was referring to was the Sharingan from his dear friend Obito.

After the tragedy that year, and even now, there were Uchiha who wanted that Sharingan back.

Could Satoshi also be...

Unexpectedly, Satoshi spoke again, "A hero's descendant naturally deserves the Uchiha's most precious gift."

"Of course, a hero's descendant also shouldn't end up going hungry."
